Nitai-Gauranga's mercy easily obtainable or not?

In the Shri Navadvipa Dhama Mahatmya, Parikrama Khanda Chapter 2 it is stated that:

As long as bodily consciousness is not given up and humility does not awaken within, one cannot obtain the treasure of Shri Chaitanya and Shri Nityananda's mercy, no matter what efforts one make, even if he be Shiva or Brahma.

It seems that this poses a serious qualification for receiving Shri Shri Gaur Nitais mercy. My understanding was that Their mercy is very easily accessible even to most degraded and fallen souls (example Jagai and Madhai) and then spiritual qualifications such as humility and detachment from everything material are spontaneously manifested in the recipients of Their mercy. Please kindly clarify the proper understanding.

Always awaiting Their mercy,

Your servant: Sarvabhauma das

Gadadhara's pure ecstatic love in the mood of Rukmini-devi

Dear Swami Gaurangapada Maharaja,
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances.

While reading the book Apasampradayas, Chapter Gauranga-nagaris, i found following statement regarding the mood of Shrila Gadadhara Pandita:

"Sri Gadadhara was so meek and submissive that the Lord sometimes remarked to His confidential associates, "Gadadhara is My consort in the spiritual world." Indeed, Gadadhara Prabhu's spiritual emotions for Lord Caitanya are described as suddha gadha bhava rukmini-devira ("pure, deep ecstatic love in the mood of Rukmini-devi") in Antya 7.144 of Sri Caitanya-caritamrta."

Could You please share Your realizations in regard to this subject matter?

Yours thankfully,
Matus

Here is answer to above question! From Caitanya Caritamrta - Adi lila Chapter 15

TEXT 16

    eka-dina naivedya-tambula khaiya
    bhumite padila prabhu acetana hana

TRANSLATION
One day Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu ate betel nuts offered to the Deity, but they acted as an intoxicant, and He fell down on the ground unconscious.

PURPORT
Betel nuts are an intoxicant, and therefore the regulative principles prohibit eating them. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's pastime of fainting after eating betel nuts is a solid instruction to all of us that one should not touch betel nuts, even those offered to Visnu, just as one should not touch grains on the Ekadasi day. Of course, Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu's fainting had a particular purpose. As the Supreme Personality of Godhead, He can do whatever He likes and eat whatever He wants, but we should not imitate His pastimes. "

Re: Offerings to Lord Krishna

"hat any kind of intoxicating addictives (paanam) whether in leaf form or liquid form or any other form are adharma, what to speak of offering them to the Lord."

Nitaai! Gaura! Interesting topic! How to understand that some "intoxicants" that we are not using are sometimes offering  to Supreme Lord. For example betel nuts. Betel is  intoxicant and was the most popular until the beginning of this century. Betel is classified as a mild stimulant similar to coffee.  There is also 'Varuni', an intoxicating beverage of Lord Balarama.

"One maidservant placed betel leaves in Their mouths. Another one quickly and expertly performed Their mangala arati with a jeweled lamp, as if she were waving around thousands of her hearts" from Krsna Bhavanamrta

How to properly understand this?

Re: mac

Nityaananda! Gauraanga! Hare Krishna! Please also try the free CHMOX chm reader for Mac. Though its development is stopped, it is may be a little better than xCHM also.

The NITAAI Veda is in a non-diacritic Tahoma font and diacritics are avoided in almost all the pages for readability. Please let us know the pages where you are having a problem with diacritics. You can install the Mac Balaram diacritic font if you are having any problems though I don't think any page in the NITAAI Veda uses it. You can download all the Mac and PC diacritics fonts from here and auto Diacritic fonts installer for the PC is here.

Daaso'smi, Swami Gaurangapada.

Re: Chanting, Asanas and Mudras

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krsna!

Thanks Igor,

I am not sure about mudras so much. Its interesting though that in meditation the body may move into mudra type positions automatically, not sure why that happens?

Re: Offerings to Lord Krishna

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Jaya Shri Guru Parampara! Pranams! Yes, there are further instructions in the Gita itself. Please refer to the verses about the foods in the modes of goodness, passion and ignorance. Also there is a verse in the Shrimad Bhagavatam (dyutam paanam striyah sunaa yatraadharmas catur vidhah) which states that any kind of intoxicating addictives (paanam) whether in leaf form or liquid form or any other form are adharma, what to speak of offering them to the Lord.

I prefer to reply to previous post about different Shastras privately since we do not discuss or criticize direct or personal names of individuals, groups etc. on this forum. We cannot imitate our Acharyas, we have to strive to humbly follow in their footsteps according to our capacity.

Daaso'smi, Swami Gaurangapada.

Re: Durga prasada

Nityaananda! Gauraanga! Hare Krishna! Please let us not argue over details. I just wanted to say that she is not always vegetarian. If she can drink blood, she can sometimes accept non-veg offerings also. It is not far-fetched. In the Vedas, there are some prescriptions of such offerings as goats etc. on Amavasya in order to gradually elevate those who eat meat. Shrila Prabhupada meant that she generally tries to avoid it. Please accept the essence.

Daaso'smi, Swami Gaurangapada.

Offerings to Lord Krishna

Nityaananda!Gauranga!Hare Krishna! AGTSP and all the gurus.

In BG Krishna says that a devotee can even offer  with devotion a leaf fruit or little water, He will accept it. But this does not mean that Krishna is saying Do not offer me non-vegetarian food. Is there any verse from the shastras where Lord Krishna says explicitly that "Do not offer me non-vegetarian food".

I myself was brought up as a vegetarian but still I am asking this question, since I want to understand Krishna either through shastra, or with the help of a guru or through personal experience or all of them.

Also some devotees in a Krishna temple were offering marijuana leaves to lord Krishna by backing their action by this particular verse in Gita that I mentioned. How do  we counter them? Are there further instructions in the shastra as to what type of offerings to do. Please can you give any references. Hoping for a satisfactory answer. BTW my las post about "shastras of yavanas or meat eaters" was not posted, may be the topic is little bit sensitive and might offend other neophyte devotees like myself who are especialy coming from a Abrahamic religion. Let me know. -ys truthseeker.

>>She then began to drink the hot blood that flowed from the necks of the beheaded rogues and thieves<<

It does not imply that Kali accepted non-vegetarian offerings, because those thieves and rogues were definitely not an offering but they were offerers. Is there no difference between offering and the offerer. Can you kindly clarify Swamiji?

Re: Durga prasada

Nityananda ! Gauranga ! Hare Krishna !

Dandavats Pranaam to Swami Gaurangapada.

There are more references of Kali Mataji eating non-veg.

In the story of Tulasi Devi a fight between Kali Mataji and Sankhacuda took place.

Kali was now infuriated. Just as she readied herself to throw the Pasupata weapon, a heavenly voice from the sky cried out, "O Goddess! Do not throw this missile at Sankhacuda. So long as Lord Hari's amulet remains on his neck and his wife's chastity is not violated, the king cannot be killed--even by the never-failing Pasupata weapon. Lord Brahma gave him this boon." Kali heeded the voice and desisted from hurling the weapon. But OUT OF HUNGER SHE DEVOURED MILLIONS OF DEMONS. She then hastened to devour Sankhacuda but he resisted her with his sharp celestial weapons. She next aimed a scimitar at him that flashed like the noonday sun but the king cut it to pieces. So she ran after him to swallow. But the skillful demon prevented her by expanding his body.

Sincerely,
Mihir.

"showing mudras (different hand postures during Deity worship)"

Thank you for sharing this. I was not thinking about mudras as part of Deity worship, but as beneficial yoga practice for better concentration and health. There are many mudras like Gyana, Surabhi, Prana Mudra etc and they are not essentional  part of bhakti, but it may help  in meditation and concentration.
