Re: Offender chanting Hare Krishna

(1) It depends on the mentality while chanting the Hare Krishna Mahaamantra. If one attitude is keep on commiting offenses and sins while chanting Hare Krishna after after having the knowledge about them, then it will become much more complicated and there will be more implication in offenses than even previously. But if one is trying one's best to avoid the offenses wile chanting the Mahaamantra, then the Hare Krishna Mahaamantra will gradually purify the chanter of the ten offenses depending on the quantity and quality of one's chanting.

(2) The Hare Krishna Mahaamantra burns all our past sins while chanting but the question of discussion is the ten offenses in the chanting of Hare Krishna Mahaamantra itself. Shrila Sacchidananda Bhaktivinoda Thakura says that the 10 Naamaaparaadhas are the most heinous offenses in creation and have no atonement except chanting the Hare Krishna Mahaamantra constantly day and night or the chanting of Nityaananda Gauraanga Naama. That is why Shrila Prabhupada states in Shri Chaitanya Charitamrita that one should not indulge in the chanting of the Hare Krishna Mahaamantra without being at least somewhat purified of the desire to deliberately sin, by performing the chanting of the most merciful Names of Nityaananda and Gauraanga. I hope this helps. Nityaananda! Gauraanga! Hare Krishna!

Offender chanting Hare Krishna

Dear Swamiji,

Nityananda ! Gauranga ! Hare Krishna !

In Nityananda Gauranga Naam book I have come across a query which is very difficult to understand.

In the book it is stated that a person with offenses who directly worships Lord Krishna keeps on increasing offenses in his heart and becomes an offender even greater than a person who is not doing bhakti at all. This is very difficult to understand as I thought that the Hare Krishna mahamantra also has the power to burn offenses but it is very slow and it takes a very long time. A person who does not chant any mantra keeps on sinning and thus his offenses keep on increasing whereas a person who chants Hare Krishna burns it slowly. Then why is it said that a person worshiping Radha Krishna directly becomes a greater offender than an atheist.

Sincerely,

Mihir.

Understand the substance of the Supersoul

All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga
 THE TRUTH ABGUT GURU

The necessity of accepting a bona fide spiritual master in the line of all disciplic succession
Text 1
tad vijnanartham sa gurum evabhigacchet
Samit panih srotriyam brahma nistham

For obtaining knowledge of the science of the Supreme Absolute (knowledge complete in transcendental loving service to the Lord), one (desiring auspiciousness) should approach a spiritual master with offerings in his hands, and also offer his mind, body and words. Such a bona fide spiritual master must be full versed in the purports of the Vedic scriptures according to the disciplic succession, as well as fully conversant with the Supreme Absolute Truth Personality of Godhead Sri Krsna.
(Mundaka 1.2.12)

Text 2
acaryavan puruso veda

A person who accepts initiation from the Acaryya and serves him with devotion knows that Supreme Absolute Truth.
(Chandogya Upanisad 6.18.2)

TEXT 3
uttisthata jagrata prapya varan nibodhata
ksurasya dhara nisita duratyaya
durgam pathas tat kavayo vadanti
(Katha Upanisad 1.3.14)

The Vedas personified advised the saintly persons for their welfare: “O saintly persons, be free from all kinds of material anxieties, awaken your eternal constitutional identity by giving up all undesirable things and be alert to realize the Supreme Lord by associating with great souls and obtaining their mercy. This material creation is extremely sharp like a razor’s edge as it is the cause of so many miseries, and it is very difficult to overcome---without knowledge of the Supreme it is impossible to cross. Great learned transcendentalists sing the praises of that Supreme Spirit who is the destroyer of the cycle of birth and death, describing Him as attainable by extremely arduous endeavor.
The purport is that there is no other way to cross over the material world of birth and death except by accepting the shelter of the lotus feet of a bona fide spiritual master and earnestly cultivating Krsna consciousness.”
TEXT 4
yasya deve para bhaktir
yatha deve tatha gurau
tasyaite kathita hy arthah
prakasante mahatmanah
(Svetasvatara 6.23)
To those great souls who engage in exclusive devotional service to the Supreme Lord and also similarly serve the spiritual master in such pure devotion, all the purports of the Vedic literature are revealed.

TEXT 5
nayam atma pravacanena labhyo
na medhaya na bahuna srutena
yam evaisa vrnute tena labhyas
tasyaisa atma vivrnute tanum svam
(Katha Upanisad 1.2.23)

One cannot understand the substance of the Paramatma, the Supersou1 residing within everyone’s heart, by means of expertise in logic, intelligence or learning. When the living entity begs the Lord for His mercy, being desirous of His transcendental loving service, then the Supreme Lord reveals His self-manifest divine form directly before him.
