Re: Jaya Radha Madhava

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!
Dandavats and obeissances.

When Guruji was talking about the offenses of accepting money to sing the holy names,  I thought how George Harrison had some devotional songs like My Sweet Lord on his album All Things Must  Pass and he accepted money for his album. I then thought how My Sweet Lord was the #1 song in the world for over a month and really helped spread Krishna Consciousness worldwide. I also remembered that there was a court ruling against George where he had to surrender the majority of his royalties from My Sweet Lord and the album All Things Must Pass and I never understood why Krishna would put George through this ordeal from that song and album, but now I understand. Krishna wanted to save George from the offense of making money off the holy names...The Lord was showing him mercy by taking away the money. Here is a snippet I got off some website:

Following the song's release, musical similarities between "My Sweet Lord" and The Chiffons' hit "He's So Fine" led to a lengthy legal battle over the rights to? the composition. Billboard magazine, in an article dated 6 March 1971, stated that Harrison's royalty payments from the recording had been halted worldwide. In the U.S. federal court decision in? the case, known as Bright Tunes Music v. Harrisongs Music,[2] Harrison was found to have unintentionally copied the earlier song. He was ordered to surrender the majority of royalties from "My Sweet Lord" and partial royalties from All Things Must Pass.

2. Die höchste Herrlichkeit der Namen Nityananda und Gauranga (26.4)

Caitanya Caritamrita Antya-Lila 11.55:

sri-krsna-Caitanya sabda balena bara bara
prabhu-mukha-madhuri piye, netre jala-dhara

Caitanya Caritamrita Antya-Lila 11.56:

sri-krsna-Caitanya sabda karite uccarana
namera sahita prana kaila utkramana

(Jaiva Dharma Kap. 12)

(D) Bhaktivinoda Thakura, Gitavali, Sri Naam kirtan, Lied zwei:

(emon, doyal to nai he, mar kheye prema dey)
(ore) aparadha dure jabe, pabe prema-dhan
(o name aparadha-vicara to nai he)
(takhon) krishna-name ruci ha'be, ghucibe bandhan

Oh!

(E) Sri Caitanya Bhagavata, Madhya-Khanda 3.169-170:

ei avatare keha gauracandra gaya
nityananda-nama suni' uthiya palaya

Sri Caitanya Bhagavata, Madhya-Khanda 4.75:

jagate durlabha bada visvambhara-nama
sei prabhu Chaitanya-sabara dhanaprana

Sri Caitanya Bhagavata Madhya-Khanda 20.137:

sannyasio yadi nahi mane gauracandra

Sri Caitanya Bhagavata Antya-Khanda 1.71-72:

sakala bhuvana eve gaya gauracandra.
tathapiha sabe nahi gaya bhutavrinda
srikrishnaChaitanya-name vimukha ye jana.
niscaya janiha sei papi bhutagana

Sri Caitanya Bhagavata Antya-Khanda 1.188-189:

garbhavati nari cale ghana svasa vaya

andha, khonda loka saba cale sathe sathe
caitanyera namete prasasta patha dekhe

Sri Caitanya Bhagavata Antya-Khanda 3.386:

ye prabhura naam-guna sakrt ye gaya

Parikrama 28. Sarga, Vers 20:

nityananda-prabhus tatra / vanijan tu grhe grhe
karoti krsna-Chaitanya-nama-sankirttana mahat

sri-krsna-Chaitanya-namna / paripurna jagat-trayam
ktva raraja gopalaih / sama nanda-vraje yatha

(Srila Prabhupada Lilamrita Kap.6)

Re: About Modern Civilization coming to an end

Dear Mihir,

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! My humble pranams!

Modern civilisation can end in a variety of ways. Third world war, the petroleum supply running out, economic disaster, asteroid impact, climate change, etc. The material world is like that and in Kali Yuga there is always danger. So yes Mihir, someday such things may happen -- but it's too early to tell. Bhakti changes fate that is determined by karma.

In Srimad Bhagavatam 12th canto, 2nd chapter many bad predictions are forecast in the future of Kali Yuga.  Please check up http://vedabase.net/sb/12/2 . You could also read the Vedic Prophecies on Kali Yuga from the Nitaai Veda.

We do not know what the Lord has in mind as in this Dhanya Kali, many things have totally modified and Kali has been pushed back a long way because Lord Gauranga has appeared. The Golden Age of Mahaprabhu is now only beginning to get into gear world wide and right now we have the best facilities in the world to preach and practice unlike any other time -- so who really knows what the Lord has planned for the sake of bhakti. One thing that must be known is that the next 9500 years is the best chance anyone has for making any spiritual progress whatsover. After that there won't be any more devotional atmosphere on this planet till the end of Kali Yuga.

At present there are discussions going on about studying Prabhupada's each and every word like some Nostradamus seer -- but that's all a big distraction. All sorts of speculative ideas are generated and people are unnecessarily agitating their minds over the unknown. I suggest that we put these trifles aside and not get worried about it -- Prabhupada himself said that devotees will be unaffected by any material calamity. In essence let's keep things simple and just surrender to the will of Lord Nitaai and carry on with the essentials -- sravanam, kirtanam, guru, sadhu and the Lord.  Do not unnecessarily get worried over doomsday predictions and other matters that do not concern our devotion.

I used to do that all the time -- but now-a-days I got rid of a huge weight off my head and now I have only myself and my own faults to deal with -- which is itself is enough for a lifetime.

For your benefit,
Srinath

Haribol! Mihir, On a personal level we may each know (intuiting) what will come to an end, and what will remain and develop (within our own spiritual walk). I am sure the same exists on a macro-level.

Prabhupada: Why not? Hes the most beautiful. Otherwise, why people are attracted? There is a verse in the Brahma-samhita: kandarpa-koti-kamaniya-visesha-sobham [Bs. 5.30]; barhavatamsam asitambuda-sundarangam. He has got one peacock feather on His head and Hes blackish, but wonderfully beautiful. These words are used. Kandarpa-koti-kamaniya. Hes so beautiful that thousands of Cupids cannot be compared with His beauty. Cupid is understood to be the most beautiful person within this universe. You know Cupid? Yes. He enchants by beauty. But Krishnas beauty is so great that millions of beauty, kandarpa or Cupid, cannot be compared with Him. Kandarpa-koti-kamaniya-visesha-sobham govindam adi-purusham tam aham bhajami [Bs. 5.30]. ..

Prabhupada: No, no, on principle it is, as Krishnas color is there, Krishnas flute is there, Krishnas peacock feather is there, these things... These are described in the sastra. Venum kvanantam aravinda-dalayataksham barhavatam samasitambuda-sun... [Bs. 5.30]. So Krishnas... Suppose even a painting of yourself. One man paints a little different from your face. Another man paints. But on the whole, it is the same. In that way Krishna is not depending on the painting but on the features of His description as it is in the sastra. Krishnas color is described there. Krishnas peacock feather is described there. Krishnas flute is there. Krishnas ever eternal consort... Pranaya-keli. In loving mood always, Krishna... Pranaya-keli-kala-vilasam. Hes always in enjoying spirit. So we get idea. Idea of Krishna and Krishna being Absolute, the idea of Krishna and Krishna is nondifferent.

Sri Bhajans Rahasya

In the Radha-rasa-sudha-nidhi (259) there is the following prayer to be always engaged in seeking Krishna by the performance of sankirtana in the mood of Radha-dasya (as a maidservant):
dhyayantam sikhi-piccha-mauli-manisam tan nama-samkirtayan
nityam tac caranambujam paricaran tan-mantra-varyam japan
sri radha padasyam eva paramabhishtam hrida dharayan
karhi syam tad anugrahena paramadbhutanuragotsavah (14)
By always remembering Krishna, who wears a peacock feather in His mukut, by performing sankirtana and engaging in the service of His lotus feet, by chanting the best of mantras, and by remembering the most cherished service of the lotus feet of Radha within my heart, when will I relish the most amazing festival of attachment to Radha?

A prayer for attaining the service of Srimati Radharani birth after birth is given in the Radha-rasa-sudha-nidhi (40):
Baladeva Vidyabhusana
Sri Aisvarya-kadambini
The Monsoon of Lord Krishnas Opulence
Introduction by Srila Baladeva Vidyabhushana

Now the author of the sutras will show that the many qualities of the Lord may be understood by studying all the Vedas. For example, in the Atharva Vedas Gopala-tapani Upanishad (1.8), the Supreme Lord is described as a cowherd boy dark like a tamala tree, dressed in yellow garments, decorated with a Kaustubha jewel, wearing a peacock-feather, playing graceful melodies on a flute, and surrounded by gopas, gopis, and surabhi cows. There He is the Deity of Gokula. In the Rama-tapani Upanishad, however, He is described as the Lord whose left side is decorated by Janaki-devi, holding a bow, the killer of Ravana and a host of demons, and the king of Ayodhya. In the Rama-tapani Upanishad it is said:
brahmaivedam amritam purastat pascac ca. brahma dakshinatas cottarenadhas cordhvam prasritam. brahmaivedam visvam idam varishtham.

The Supreme is eternal. He is in the east and the west. He is in the south and the north. He is below and He is above. He is everywhere in the universe. He is the greatest.
As the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is full of transcendental knowledge and bliss, has a wonderful variety of features, such as His hands, feet, nails, and hair, so the Lords transcendental abode, which is manifested from His own personal form, also has a wonderful variety of features, such as the different forms in its land and water. Even though they are all spirit and nothing else, still they manifest a great variety, like a peacock feather or other colorful object.

In Gokula Krishna is a cowherd boy, has two arms, holds the flute, and is decorated with a peacock-feather and other ornaments. Krishna appeared with the complexion of a newly-formed rain cloud, enchanting to the whole world. He had a peacock feather in His crown, and He danced while playing His flute. He was dressed in yellow cloth, and golden ankle-bells adorned His feet. His body was as soft as butter and full of transcendental mellows. Seeing Krishnas exquisitely beautiful form

My dear Lord, You are the only worshipful Supreme Lord, Personality of Godhead. Therefore I am offering my humble obeisances and prayers just to please You. Your bodily features are of the color of clouds filled with water. You are glittering with a silver electric aura emanating from Your yellow garments.*
Let me offer my respectful repeated obeisances unto the son of Maharaja Nanda who is standing before me with conchshell, earrings, and peacock feather on His head. His face is beautiful. He is wearing a helmet, garlanded with forest flowers, and He stands with a morsel of food in His hand. He is decorated with cane and bugle, and He carries a buffalo horn and flute. He stands before me with small lotus feet.*

4- My dear friend, the luster of Krsnas body is more brilliant than a newly formed cloud, and His yellow dress is more attractive than newly arrived lightning. A peacock feather decorated His head, and on His neck hangs a lovely necklace of brilliant pearls. As He holds His charming flute to His lips, His face looks as beautiful as the full autumn moon. By such beauty, Madana-mohana the enchanter of Cupid, is increasing the desire of My eyes to see Him.

About Modern Civilization coming to an end

Dear Gurudev and devotees,

Nityaananda ! Gauraanga ! Hare Krishna !

In 1973 Shrila Prabhupada said something like that the modern civilization will come to an end within 50 years in a morning walk.

However I am not exactly understanding its meaning. Does this mean that there will be poverty in each and every house ? Does it mean that there will be a lot of natural disasters like earthquake, tsunami etc and will there be a lot of wars ?

I really request someone to explain the exact meaning of this statement.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Mihir.
