Re: offering bhoga to the deity

Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna!  Considering the offering of Bhoga, let's get into what type of nice foodstuffs we can make for the Lord. That's right, I say cookbooks.

As a matter of fact, the Gaura Ebook which I downloaded (v 1.3) has a series of cookbooks on the subject, including some ekadasi recipies. It also has links on where to get devotional cookbooks. It had some really fantastic recipes from all over the world from 1000 yr old South Indian specials to all the other typical dishes in other countries including where many of you devotees live. Try getting some of the cookbooks online before geocities closes.

Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krsna

Above are quotations from sastras :

"Anyone  who eats eggplants, Lord Sri Hari always stays  a far distance from him."

"Any  food  which is mixed with wine, meat,  eggplant  and beetroot,  if  it is offered by someone to the  Lord,  he  cannot receive unalloyed devotion to Lord Janardana."

Could someone please explain - according to Hari Bhakta Vilasa if person offer eggplant he or she can not attain unallloyes devotion to Lord!

We are offering eggplant dishes and Srilla Prabhupada liked it too! What does it mean? Is this quote from Haribhakta-vilasa right or wrong?

Srila Prabhupada: Pleasing taste. So the Vedas say, raso vai sah. The exact translation of mellow is rasa. [Malatī, Śyamasundaras wife, enters with a tray of food] What is that?
Malatī: Eggplant, fried.
Srila Prabhupada: Oh! All-attractive! All-attractive! [Laughter.]

Also above is quote :"One should also give up turnips and beetroots, carrots,  kinsuka, forest  figs, and white pumpkin.  If the twice born  persons  eat these things, they all become fallen."

We are prepring carrots? Gajar Halava is devotees favorite? Does it mean that if "persons  eat these things, they all become fallen?"
