Re: Your Upload and Download Speeds

Thank you everyone for your results. I am getting a fair idea of how the speeds are at your end. Mihir, you can try any other speed test site or try this one for BSNL broadband. Nityaananda! Gauraanga! Hare Krishna!

Re: Your Upload and Download Speeds

Dear Swamiji,

Nityananda ! Gauranga ! Hare Krishna !

I am getting the following message in the link you provided.

Speedtest.net requires at least version 7 of Flash. Please update your client.

If you have version 7 or newer installed but are still getting this message, then make sure you have JavaScript enabled. We use the very popular JavaScript package SWFObject to detect your Flash version. If you are certain that JavaScript is enabled, then there could be an error in your Flash installation. This problem is usually solved by uninstalling and then reinstalling Flash. If that does not help, then visit our Questions & Answers section to hopefully figure out how to resolve the issue. If still no luck then you can click here to view the page without the JavaScript requirement, but we can't guarantee everything will work correctly.

Speedtest.net is an interactive view of the world linked to speed test servers in many different countries. When you select one of the servers, this speed test quickly checks the bandwidth and latency of your broadband Internet connection to that location.

The history of your test results are saved, and each one is given a unique linkable image. If you are having trouble with your connection, then share these images with Comcast, Vonage, Earthlink, Verizon, AT&T, Qwest, Speakeasy or whoever your Internet or VoIP provider is. Or just post them in forums for fun!

Re: Your Upload and Download Speeds

Dear Swamiji,

Nityananda ! Gauranga ! Hare Krishna !

I am geting an error in the site and am not being able to check my speed. However I went into my broadband account and there it is said ' Broad band with Access Speed of 256 Kbps upto 2Mbps (max). '. Thus it varies between this. I have observed that the actual speed that takes place in kbs wihle downloading a file is 10 % of the limit given by them. Thus it comes to 25 kbs to 200 kbs. Most of the time it is 50 kbs to 80 kbs. This is the actual speed I see in the download window while the file is being downloaded.

Please tell me if I can be of any help to you.

Sincerely,

Mihir.

I have noticed upload is not always as good as this. And also Maharaja, I do not have unlimited mb usage  account (not available with my service provider), so have to watch usage. But if I can assist in serving the devotees, please call.

Smallest Size Videos in the World

Dear Devotees, Nityaananda! Gauraanga! Hare Krishna! Due to feedback from some of our devotees in India who have a maximum of 128 kbps internet connection (extremely slow), we tried an experiment to make available our videos at the lowest bitrate in the world conceivably possible for videos, which is even less than bitrates for mp3 audios. We are happy that after working with video codec experts, we are able to produce videos at only 100 kbps with viewable video and audio quality when viewed in a small size. Dialup connection speed is 56 kbps but it is fast being replaced by at least a 128 kbps connection in the third world countries. I think hardly anyone ever makes videos available at 100 kbps so this is our unique contribution to reach one and all via the internet with spiritually nourishing NITAAI Yoga videos.

So now even those with a minimum of 128 kbps internet connection will be able to play these 100 kbps videos  online non-stop (no video stopping due to buffering) without having to first download them for hours or days. This will greatly increase the online audience who can view our NITAAI Yoga spiritual videos and attain benefit about the goal of human life. We are always happy to make it easier for one and all to become absorbed in Naama Bhakti Yoga and videos are the best medium to do that.

For now you can view these 100 kbps, 248 kbps and 768 kbps videos, depending on your speed,  via the players in the tabs box at the Nitaai.net forum home page. We will later add a new topic for the video players for these video qualities.

We will also be making the same videos available at 248 kbps for slow-medium speed conections of 256 kbps and also the same videos in  higher quality at 768 kbps to 1 Mbps for sharp fullscreen viewing for those viewers with real broadband connections. After some research, we have found that we may have to make the videos available in a 4th format for downloading, burning and playing on a Blu-ray disc on a PS3 etc. for viewing on TVs. Because the Blu-ray discs only play those videos which have AC3 audio in a m2ts (.ts) container along with the H.264 or WMV VC-1 video codec. Let us see how this would be possible.

Are we actually aware of the price?

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!

If we want to have a continuous supply of deep spiritual, Gauranga-Krishna  Conscious insights on our path, we have to be ready to again and again pay the  required price. But do we actually know the price? We have some general idea of  the price we have to pay to attain our ultimate desired goal. Yet this supreme  goal consists of many sub-goals which we have to achieve in our day-to-day life.  It is a step by step progress. This progress has its specifics in connection to  each and every individual. Generalization will not help us much. What is needed  is a sincere, aware and consequent self-analysis in order to wash away the  countless layers of misconception covering our souls. That will prove successful  only if we give up the self-defeating tendency rooted deep within us. And that  is only possible by sufficient spiritual merit and by the full mercy got out of  effectively associating with saintly devotees of the Lord.

Re: Japa timing

Nityananda! Gauranga ! Hare Krishna!

Dandavats and obeissances.

Sometimes one may wake up early at 4 am or so and still not be able to chant all their rounds for the day at this time. I think the important thing is to do as much as you can in the morning and do the rest throughout the day and night. It is still good to chant all day and during the night, but as Swami Gaurangapada has said it is just harder to concentrate because you have been out all day and it is harder to bring the mind back. Chanting is still the best thing you can do at anytime.

Re: In Honor of Richard L Thompson Sadaputa dasa prabhu

Here is a post Swami Gaurangapada gave a while back:

Here is a video which explains some of these truths nicely. The Mysteries of the Sacred Universe book and cd-rom by Sadaputa dasa are a good source of information about this. It is available on Krishna.com here and on Amazon book here and cd here. The Vedic Cosmography book can be read here. Nityaananda! Gauraanga! Hare Krishna!
