Re: Photos of Shrila Bhaktivinoda Thakura

Nityaananda! Gauraanga! Hare Krishna! Thanks Igor. That last photo is perhaps one of the rare real photos we have of an Acharya when the Acharya is directly and completely absorbed and present in the pastimes of Lords Nityaananda Gauraanga and Shri Shri Radha Krishna in a bhajanaanandi mood. After his acceptance of babaji vesha (which should not be imitated) from Shrila Gaura Kishora Dasa Babaji, Shrila Sacchidananda Bhaktivinoda Thakura went into seclusion in his Bhakti Kuti in Kolkata to complete immerse himself in the highest Naama Rasa and Bhajana Pranaali which he himself described in the Jaiva Dharma and Hari Naama Chintaamani. He is undoubtedly totally immersed and present in the Lord's Pastimes and seeing and talking to the Lord when that photo has been taken.

Gaura-shakti-svarupaya

Dear Swami Gaurangapada Maharaja,

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Please accept my most humble obeisances.

Upon reading and meditation on the pranaama mantra of Shrila Bhaktivinoda Thakura:

namo bhaktivinodaya sac-cid-ananda-namine

gaura-shakti-svarupaya
rupanuga-varaya te

I offer pranama unto Saccidananda Shri Bhaktivinoda Thakura, who is the foremost of rupanugas and the embodiment (prakasha) of Shri Gauranga Mahaprabhu’s shakti,Gadadhara Pandita.

i wonder what the meaning is of "gaura-shakti-svarupaya" - embodiment (prakasha) of Lord Gauranga, Gadadhara Pandita... What is the special significance in connection to our sampradaya? We have already touched this point in one other post, but still i would like to know how the practical manifestation of this prakaasha can be perceived and appreciated by a practicing vaishnava.

Thank You very much

Matus

Beautiful picture deities of the Lord

Respected Swamiji and all devotees,

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!

Jaya Visnupada Srila Prabhupada!

Jaya Swami Gaurangpada!

All glories to the guru parampara!

All glories to the Vaisnavas!

By the Lord's mercy I have found some very beautiful picture deities of our Lordships. These pictures have an extraordinary effect on my chanting and can melt any devotee's heart. Please excuse the sizes as I felt they should be downloaded in full.

Gaura Nitai is from a calendar sheet. This form immediately entered my heart as I saw it. So good for meditation and chanting!!!  To clarify, Lord Nityananda is on the left half of the photo and Lord Gauranga is on the right side. It is an interesting effect that Lord Caitanya's left hand leaps right out of the picture into 3 dimensions.

This is a beautiful baby Krishna

I want to post a Radha Krishna with the 8 sakhis -- but I am a bit scared of offenses. Can you please tell me if its ok to upload them? If so, i will upload in the next post

I have some pictures from a rare chance to visit Vrndavana Dhama. Could you permit me to upload a few of them?

Jay Bhaktivinode Thakura

Jaya Nityananda!

Text from Krsna Book Chapter 2

Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krsna

Here is so nice text from Krsna Book Chapter 2 where Srilla Prabhupada is explaining that Lord and His Name are identical:

"O Lord, the impersonalists or nondevotees cannot understand that Your name is identical with Your form.Since the Lord is absolute, there is no difference between His name and His actual form. In the material world there is a difference between form and name. The mango fruit is different from the name of the mango. One cannot taste the mango fruit simply by chanting, "mango, mango, mango." But the devotee who knows that there is no difference between the name and the form of the Lord chants Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare and realizes that he is always in Krsna's company."

Nityaananda! Gauraanga! Hare Krishna! Lord Gauranga is same Lord Krsna - vrajendra nanadana yei saci-suta hoilo sei! Now he become son of Saci, but He is that same Person, Yasoda-nandana. Lord is same with His Name.  Krsna and His Name are the same! Do you really have faith in this fact? If you are vaisnava, then you know that - Name and Lord are non-different.  So, if we know this, that Lord Gauranga is actually Krsna, and that Krsna is non-different from His Name, we must agree that Lord Gauranga is non-different from His Name. It is simple! Please accept it! To think that Lord Chaitanya is different from His Own Name is ignorance. Actually if we chant Gauranga we are worshiping Sri Sri Radha -Krsna at same time. No difference. When you chant Gauranga you are worshiping Sri Sri Radha Krsna combined.

Where is difficulty to chant Nitaai Naama! We all fully depend solely upon mercy of Lord Nityananda! Whole this world is existing only because Lord Nityananda! Whole Guru Varga and our spiritual masters are manifestations of Lord Nityananda! So why not to chant His Name constantly? Where is difficulty? Lord Nityananda is That Same heroic Balarama, killer of Pralambasura! Balarama hoilo nitaai! So to say that anyone should not chant His Name is lack of basic knowledge and great misfortune. Please abandon all dry mental speculations and accept Nitaai Naam as your life and soul.

Some persons mistakenly think that by chanting Nityananda and Gauranga we are minimizing chanting of Maha-Mantra? That is giving me great pain. That is avidya.  Swami Gaurangapada recommends the chanting of 100,000 Holy Names of Krsna or 64 rounds of the Hare Krishna Mahaamantra! So, where is difficulty? Lord Gauranga is non-different from Sri Sri Radha Krsna. So where is this "minimizing"? When you chant Gauranga, you are personally associating with Lord Gauranga! Please consider this! Sri-krsna-caitanya radha-krsna nahe anya! Please try to understand this simple facts and chant Nitaai and Gaura Naam!

Now You can Design your Posts

Dear Devotees, Nityaananda! Gauraanga! Hare Krishna! We have now added an advanced html editor in the posting pages for a new post and a new reply so that you can design and layout your post as you want it to be. You can now quickly use bold, italics, underline, highlighting, font colors, font sizes, font styles, text alignment, hyperlinking, image linking, bulleting, inserting tables, smilies, anchors, forms, characters, quotes etc.  The biggest advantage is that if you find a good spiritual article on another web page,  you can just select it and copy the text and images and simply paste it in this new post box on our forums via Ctrl+V on your keyboard and all the layout, photos, text etc of the original post will be maintained. The mouse pasting may not work in this box. This advanced posting box should work in Firefox, IE and Safari browsers. It will take some time to load for the first time but after that it should be fast. Unfortunately, this advanced editor box will not show up in the Opera browser 9.2x series. It does show up in the latest Opera 9.5 Beta but it is still not fully stable in Opera.

The Good Luck Happy Dolls

Many years ago Srila Prabhupada instructed his disciples to mass produce small Gaura Nitai Deities (he called them Happy Dolls) and distribute them on Sankirtan along with his books. He told the devotees that they should include instructions on chanting with the Deities, stating that if they chanted for the Deities and put some fruit in front of the Deities, then partook of the fruit themselves; they would enjoy great fortune!"

If Srila Prabhupada was happy to authorise us to distribute Gaura Nitai Deities freely on the street to all and sundry, even meat eaters and whomever  as interested to take Them, without any qualification, then it would seem anyone can place Gaura Nitai on a mantelpiece, shelf or an altar at home and  Perform the smallest worship, or even no worship at all, and be benefited by their presence in one's home.

Shrila Prabhupada said the purchasers could be told They were 'good luck dolls' and also told that if they simply waved a stick of incense to Them everyday they would get good luck. (Quotes by Devotees)
