Re: Chanting Gauranga

Dear Bruce prabhu,

Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! My pranams!

Jaya Jaya! It is greatly fortunate that you get all these realizations. The Lord and his devotees are really calling you with a loud roar to join in the chanting of Nityananda Gauranga naam. Please take this as a personal request from the Supreme Lord and His devotees that you should seriously pursue this opportunity and advance. For you it would be a very beautiful path right from the beginning. You have a HUGE head start so please take full advantage of it.

Yes, Gauranga naam is completely non-different from Krishna naam. Gauranga is Krishna and even Prabhupada used to chant Gauranga spontaneously in the middle of his Hare Krishna japa. Please accept your experiences as the Lord's personal request as it is so rare for people to just start chanting with such a bang! We are all very very happy to hear this.

I pray for your mercy that I also get some desire to serve the spiritual world sincerely.

Daaso'smi,
Srinath

Lila Smaranam - solace for devotees

"Since Krsna had departed from Vrindavana and gone to Mathura, the inhabitants of Vrindavana, especially mother Yasoda, Nanda Maharaja, Srimati Radharani, the gopis and the cowherd boys, were simply thinking of Krsna at every step. They were thinking, Here Krsna was playing in this way. Here Krsna was blowing His flute. Krsna was joking with us in this way, and Krsna was embracing us like this. This is called lila-smarana, and it is the process of association with Krsna most recommended by great devotees; even Lord Caitanya, when He was at Puri, enjoyed lila-smarana association with Krsna. Those in the most exalted position of devotional service and ecstasy can live with Krsna always by remembering His pastimes. Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti thakura has given us a transcendental literary work entitled Krsna-bhavanamrita, which is full with Krsnas pastimes. Exalted devotees can remain absorbed in Krsna-thought by reading such books. Any book of Krsna-lila, even this book, Krsna, or our Teachings of Lord Caitanya, is actually solace for devotees feeling separation from Krsna."

Re: Chanting Gauranga

Nityananda! Gauraga! Hare Krsna!

Bruce you wrote: "What joy I had experienced from being in their presence, and they sung songs I didn't know all the words to--which exposed my deficiencies, but they laughed at this and encouraged me to keep going.  It was great!"

The Holy Name of Gauranga is an extremely powerful purifying fire that cleanses the dross from the heart rapidly (this grace of Gauranga Naam is confirmed in scripture). Gauranga Naam is non-different to Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu. Because of associating with his light and person we also begin to see... his name is Caitanya!

As our hearts purify, our heart begins to shine upon all things and we begin to open. The dross begins to clear and we associate gradually with our true nature (Gauranga consciousness), rather than identifyng with the afflictive mind, a mind which is selfish and closed...

As we begin to purify our existence of that false 'seperated' self we begin to feel deeper connection with the 'other'. Your dream is wonderful because the nature of grace is light and we live freely in this plane of consciousness, even with the final remnants of sin (deficiency) remaining. Many people are too serious and condemn themselves with guilt and shame. Only if they really knew the nature of positive and progressive spiritual life...and the truth of the matter!

One could use the analogy of a flower or lotus, it opens in true beauty (gradually). Spiritual life for us is like that also. Gauranga Naam opens the heart gently, purifies the heart rapidly, reveals the deficiencies gracefully...and inspires us to dive deeply into love of Godhead. You are entering the kingdom of God. Be grateful ))

I hope this interpretation of your dream is helpful.

Also Bruce, it is very natural for the Mahamantra to appear within Gauranga (Naam), Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. You are discovering your true self now... Please leave behind all doubt that Gauranga Jaap is incorrect - the love that opens the heart is never incorrect or a concocted fantasy.

The only thing that will block the lotus of our heart is pride and self conceit, which leads to further offences. Be swanlike...
