Re: Cause of the success in chanting

Dear Bhakta Matus Prabhu,

Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! My humble pranams! Simply brilliant post. I am far more wretched than any Jagai or Madhai, even they accept Lord Nitaai's mercy but I am so ungrateful that I reject it and seek elsewhere. It is only by Gurudeva's mercy that we have any hope of any success.  Even a stray dog will reciprocate some love and gratitude if you give it some food daily and get its friendship. But I am millions of times worse than dogs on the road, being so ungrateful. All over the universe people are ready to die and become insects and worms just to get one moment's association of a pure devotee, but I have got such mercy that I am able to talk to all of you whenever I want, still I am so ungrateful that I have started taking things for granted.

As Ishana Thakur Das prabhu said, this is a mercy movement, not a qualification movement. The Lord's devotees show us mercy and even though we are all so unworthy of receiving something soooo confidential, still we nevertheless make some attempt because that is the only way we show our gratitude to them.

And what kind of mercy it is! The guru spends so many gallons of blood, time, energy and money and has to take so much difficulty just for one of us, even though there are so many better people everywhere. We can never understand the difficulties of the Lord's devotees. Atleast I tend to take it so lightly not caring for this.

And in the process I have committed unlimited offenses and sins before the guru and the devotees and tons of Vaishnava aparadha. Still I am being let off without any punishment. Now I fall before everyone's feet and beg of you to forgive me (again) without any shame, for what I have done in the past.

We can never repay the guru's mercy even in trillions of lifetimes, but the least we can do for those great souls who have revealed this path to us is to make some attempt to follow in their footsteps and follow their instructions sincerely.  It is the least bit of basic gratitude that we fallen sinners can show to our guru and all the devotees. Jaya Gurudeva!

Daaso'smi,
Srinath

Chanting and physical and mental exhaustion

All glories to Swami Gaurangapada!

Sometimes devotee (under very busy daily routine, job, duties ets. ) may feel mental and physical exhaustion. It seems that at such times it is very hard to chant properly and concentrate, chanting speed is reduced, etc. Is it offensive to   chant at such state? I mean, from one hand devotee want to finish his rounds, from other hand he or she feels that it is not "fixed chanting" but more or less mechanical repetition of mantra while mind is barely listening. Is that offense, because we do not listen sound of mantra with full attention?  What to do when we find ourselves in such condition?
