Chanting and physical and mental exhaustion

Sometimes devotee (under very busy daily routine, job, duties ets. ) may feel mental and physical exhaustion. It seems that at such times it is very hard to chant properly and concentrate, chanting speed is reduced, etc. Is it offensive to   chant at such state? I mean, from one hand devotee want to finish his rounds, from other hand he or she feels that it is not "fixed chanting" but more or less mechanical repetition of mantra while mind is barely listening. Is that offense, because we do not listen sound of mantra with full attention?  What to do when we find ourselves in such condition?
