Nityananda, Gauranga, Hare Krishna.
Dear Swami Gaurangapada and Nava Gauranga dasa,
Please accept my humble obeisances.
Thank you both for your uplifting and prayers. Yes, I would in no way euthanize any animal. I will admit that I did do that in the past when a dog was in seriously ill health, but having come to realize that it is so wrong to do so, I would never do that again.
No,there are no such homes for old or sick dogs that I am aware of but that is, indeed a wonderful thing. This old dog is my friend also and I am pleased that you, Nava Gauranga dasa, can appreciate that. He depends on me for all his needs now. I even have to force him to go outside to do his "business" but I understand that he is like many (not all) older persons. Sometimes you have to insist and force them to do what is needed to help them. So be it - I do what is needed.
Yes, he is going to advance when he does leave his body. He hears chanting daily, he has had some prasadam in the past. I also know that I am attached to him as a close friend, and I wish I were not, but I know that when he leaves I can be free of that attachment. It is almost impossible to be totally unattached when he lives with me. Again, I am sure you know how that is, also. Perhaps Krishna is just testing me by letting him stay here so long, but I will do what is needed to take care of him. Certainly, I can not let him suffer if there is a way I can help. I have had this dog since the moment of his birth in that body. I saw him being born from his mother, whom I also had as a pet.
Again, thank you both for your kind input.
Yes, I will visit here more often. I do come to the just about website often, but I do not sign-in and I just read. I realize that it would be good to be more participating here. I will see about that.
Thank you.
Unworthy to be so blessed,
bhakta ron
