Re: Offender chanting Hare Krishna

(1) It depends on the mentality while chanting the Hare Krishna Mahaamantra. If one attitude is keep on commiting offenses and sins while chanting Hare Krishna after after having the knowledge about them, then it will become much more complicated and there will be more implication in offenses than even previously. But if one is trying one's best to avoid the offenses wile chanting the Mahaamantra, then the Hare Krishna Mahaamantra will gradually purify the chanter of the ten offenses depending on the quantity and quality of one's chanting.

(2) The Hare Krishna Mahaamantra burns all our past sins while chanting but the question of discussion is the ten offenses in the chanting of Hare Krishna Mahaamantra itself. Shrila Sacchidananda Bhaktivinoda Thakura says that the 10 Naamaaparaadhas are the most heinous offenses in creation and have no atonement except chanting the Hare Krishna Mahaamantra constantly day and night or the chanting of Nityaananda Gauraanga Naama. That is why Shrila Prabhupada states in Shri Chaitanya Charitamrita that one should not indulge in the chanting of the Hare Krishna Mahaamantra without being at least somewhat purified of the desire to deliberately sin, by performing the chanting of the most merciful Names of Nityaananda and Gauraanga. I hope this helps. Nityaananda! Gauraanga! Hare Krishna!

Daaso'smi, BR Sadhu Swami Gaurangapada.
