Lord Chaitanya the Incarnation of Divine Love

By Nava Gauranga dasa

Taken from the book ‘Lord Chaitanya: The Incarnation of Divine Love’ by Malati Priya Devi Dasi (disciple of Srila BS Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaja).

“Krsna may embrace me in love or trample me under His feet. He may break my heart by hiding Himself from me. Let that debauchee do whatever He likes, but He will always be the only Lord of My Life”. Sri Siksastakam verse eight by Sri Gauranga translated by Srila BR Sridhar Maharaja.

The ecstatic symptoms manifested by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu have never been found in the history of the world or even expressed in any Scriptures. In Him we find the highest conception of the Ultimate Reality. This is the all-conquering conclusion. The highest conception of the Ultimate Reality must also be the highest form of ananda, ecstacy. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is Sri Krsna Himself tasting His own sweetness and dancing in ecstatic joy. With every word from His lotus mouth and every gesture and movement of His beautiful golden figure, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu performs His ecstatic pastimes of Divine Love.

In contrast to such high realisation of the Absolute Truth, the materialist, on the other hand, is always ready to make vows, a bribe to God in return for some material gain. Little do they realise that not a balde of grass moves without His will. He who is our creator is naturally our best guardian or parent, who knows what is best for us. It is not necessary to ask Him what we need as He knows better than we do ourselves what is good for us. He knows our past of many lifetimes, He knows our present and He knows our future. So what necessity is there to ask anything from the all-knower who is all-in-all.

By attainig the highest attainment, His Divine Love, all is attained, for there is no other attainment or goal higher in spiritual life than to attain the highest intensity of love for God. What else does god want from the jiva? What can be a higher offering than to offer one’s heart completely in self-forgetfullness, in unalloyed love to God. The final goal of attainment is to aquire a position in eternal transcendental loving service in His abode, never to come back again to go through the repeated cycle of birth and death. But in spite of being granted such a high position as an accomplishment for their exclusive devotion, the Ananya-bhaktas are ready to serve even in hell if that would bring pleasure to their Lord.

The word Vaisnavism comes from the word Visnu and it means one who worships Visnu out of pure love in complete surrender and self-forgetfullness, expecting nothing from Him in return.
