Canto 7 Chapter 9 Verse 31
After Lord Narasimha had killed the demon Hiranyakasipu, the Lord exhibited transcendental anger which greatly perturbed the Demigods. Thus the Demigods requested Prahlada to pacify the Lord with prayers. This image shows the pacified Lord. In fact, Sridhara Swami in his Bhagavatam commentary describes this dual feature:

"Although quite ferocious, the lioness is kind to her cubs. Similarly, though fearsome to nondevotees like Hiranyakasipu, Lord Narasimha is incredibly soft and kind to pure devotees like Prahlada."
