Re: Nitai-Gauranga's mercy easily obtainable or not?

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Jaya Shri Guru Parampara! Pranams! This beautiful verse is talking about the ultimate mercy of Lords Nityaananda Gauraanga, which is to enter into Their Divine Pastimes. One can understand this from the case of Shrila Jagai and Madhai. They both received the initial causeless mercy of Lords Nityaananda and Gauraanga near the shore of the Ganga where Lord Nitaai was hit on the head. And only then they developed the above qualities of extreme humility and freedom from bodily consciousness. And only after attaining this humility, they were allowed to enter into the Sankirtana Pastimes of the Lord in Shrivasa Angana where Lord Gaura purified them fully and accepted them as His Associates. The sequence of the events in this pastime answers your nice question. To summarize it: the initial mercy of Lords Nitaai Gaura and Their Holy Names is always causeless and the ultimate mercy of becoming the Lord's direct Associate only comes when the devotee attains the required qualification of intense humility by accepting this initial mercy.

Daaso'smi, Swami Gaurangapada.
