Grihastha pair and the need of children

i would like to kindly ask a question:
Is it compulsory for a grihastha devotee pair to have children? Like two devotees, male and female, who like each other, respect each other and they would plan to marry especially for each others' support of personal bhajan and preaching purposes. Is it necessary for them to have children, because sometimes it would maybe complicate the very purpose (as mentioned before), for which they got married?
