Re: Good method for achieving concentration in japa

Dear Mihir,

Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! My humble pranams.

This is quite good, but even better is to meditate on a picture of the divine Lordships and meditate on each and every part starting from their lotus feet and moving upwards. However silent japa of the holy names as practiced in Authentic Silent Meditation is the best method to calm the mind and enjoy very deep chanting as it doesn't require one to force the mind to meditate on the names, rather simply one has to follow the natural thought vibration of the names all the way back to the subtlest platform and then beyond to the spiritual platform. This happens on its own by simply noting the awareness of the names in the mind, therefore it is gives exceptional results, as we surrender our ego and simply let the holy name carry us throughout. I mentioned this before, and I again reiterate what I said. It is the most effective type.

Your humble servant,
Srinath
