Re: The Straight Path

Dear Mihir, Nityaananda!! Gauraanga!! Hare Krishna!! Shrila Haridasa Thakura was never tired of mental chanting. He used to chant mentally for some time because according to Hari Bhakti Vilasa, manasika japa is described as dhyana samo hi sah i.e. mental chanting is equal to deep meditation on the object of chanting. Thus, when he wanted to go very deep into trance on the Lord, he would chant the Holy Names mentally as it was no possible to loudly vibrate the Names at that time. That said. you can also attain complete absorption and the stage of deep meditation by loud chanting and Naama Sankirtana which is practically easier for the practicing souls rather than trying to hear the Holy Names within in the conditioned stage.

Daaso'smi, BR Sadhu Swami Gaurangapada.
