Thanks for the link Mihir prabhu. When I was younger (18-19) I used to stare at the sun for minutes at a time just for fun and because I felt so strong at that age (in reality arrogant and deluded).  I didn't acquire any major siddhis from doing that  but gained some minor abilities.  I now know that material acquisitions pale in comparison to bhakti yoga and self realization as you have pointed out. The best material mellows feel  like poison compared to even the most elementary spiritual mellows one feels with self realization.
