Nityaananda! Gauraanga! Hare Krishna! Dear Ron, I will offer prayers for the soul of your dog. I understand your predicament in taking care of him at your age. Euthanization is ruled out because as you said we cannot take the law in our hands. If you are having great trouble taking care of him, you can consider giving him to some reasonable animal home where they can take care of him until death. He has received spiritual sukriti (pious credits) by staying with a devotee like you and I am sure a good destination for his soul is ensured where he can continue his devotional service and association possibly directly as a human being.
