Were their Diksha-Gurus mantra giving gurus, not the naam giving gurus?

Both. The Mantras are also Naamaatmaka Mantras comprising of the Lord's Holy Names so the Mantra Gurus can be called as Naama Gurus also. And every Naama is also a Mantra, so Naama Gurus can also be known as Mantra Gurus. It is only that some Acharyas received the pure Naama by aural reception from their Gurus but there may not have been a formal initiation specifically for the Naama like they may have had for the other (klim) Mantras. But they did receive the Naama from their Gurus.
