Why should Radharani's lotus feet give darshan only once a year?

This is an interesting question. The pastimes of Shri Shri Radha Krishna are the most confidential secrets in Vraja. Even Lord Krishna's mother and father, Yashoda and Nanda do not have direct access to these pastimes. The vision of Shrimati Radha's lotus feet is only meant for the pleasure of Lord Krishna and Her intimate Gopi friends. But on the most merciful holy days of Radhashtami (Shrimati Radha's birthday) or sometimes on Gopashtami (Lord Krishna became a full cowherd boy), Shrimati Radha becomes extra merciful and grants the vision of Her divine lotus feet to unqualified souls like us.

This system in practiced to also create a proper sense of respect for the pastimes of Shri Shri Radha Krishna among neophye devotees and discourage them to approach the intimate pastimes of Shri Shri Radha Krishna with a cheap enjoying mentality. Shrimati Radha's lotus feet is not meant for our enjoyment but only for Lord Krishna's enjoyment. This system establishes that Radha-pada-dasyam is not cheap but instead it is very rare and confidential and should be approached only after proper purification and qualification.
