Chanting during a death incident

Respected Guruji,

Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! Please accept my respectful obeisances!

Today a relative of my friend has passed away and hence there is a mourning period for 10 days. Considering the case of a scenario where a family member dies, I have some questions :

        1) It is said here that the family members of the deceased must not visit any temple or holy place for a period of one year. Is this applicable to the 3 holy Dhamas as well?

        2) Is it ok to continue with chanting our usual rounds of Nityananda and Gauranga within the ten days? Can the deity be worshipped during this time and can we use our Tulasi / Neem Japa malas? Or should we chant without the japamala?

        3) Apart from the usual sraddha ceremony can any other thing be done for the departed soul?

Sincerely,

Srinath
