Re: The Sri Shanka Dham of the Heart
Dear Hadai Prabhu,
Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! Please accept my respectful obeisances!
When you said "Shanka Dham" I was aware of a vague memory of Puri Dhama represented in the form of a conch in a large image I had seen somewhere long ago. I was able to get a smaller and rather indistinct image of it. Here it is. Is this the conch that Lord Nityananda keeps blowing?
The Skanda purana, Utkala khanda 3.52-53 describes the holy dhama of Sri Purushottama kshetra as a dakshinavarta sankha (a special Lakshmi conchshell with the hollow part on the right side), having an area of 16 km2 of which 40% is submerged under the sea.
By the way, I see that the abode of Jagannatha is represented by what is called a chakra (a type of symbol). What does that diagram (in the middle) indicate with 2 triangles inscirbed in a circle surrounded by petals and further enclosed in a square figure? Does it represent the abode of the Lord as given in the Brahma Samhita? Sorry for asking, but I am only curious. If I am worthy to know, you may give me a small hint.
Please accept my offering,
Your unworthy servant
Srinath
