Question about tulasi beads and Vaisnava pictures.

I have a couple questions for anyone who can answer: I have read that if one wears tulasi beads before they have been offered to the Lord that the person who wears them goes to hell. Before I read this I gave a couple friends tulasi beads without offering them and I was wondering what I should do, do I really have to get them back and dispose of them?
Also many of us have devotional pictures of the Lord and Vaisnavas; what happens if a picture of a Vaisnava or the Lord gets torn accidentally, what is to be done in this case?
