2. Die höchste Herrlichkeit der Namen Nityananda und Gauranga (31)

(31) SEKTIERERTUM IM SPIRITUELLEN LEBEN

Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur im Krischna Samhita 8.22, Vers und Erluterung stammen von ihm:

sampradaya-virodho 'yam davanalo vicintyate

Was sehe ich jetzt?

2. Die höchste Herrlichkeit der Namen Nityananda und Gauranga (29)

(29) DER NAME VON GAURANGA IST DER WICHTIGSTE ALLER HAUPT-NAMEN VON KRISCHNA

(I) Im Brihad-vishnu-sahasranama-stotra, Uttara-khanda, Padma Purana (72.335) steht:

rama rameti rameti, rame rame manorame;
sahasra-namabhis tulyam, rama-nama varanane.

vishnor ekaika naampi, sarva vedadhikam matam
tadrk naam sahasrena, rama naam samasmritam

sahasra-namnam punyanam, trir-avrittya tu yat phalam; ekavrittya tu krishnasya, naamikam tat prayacchati.

(IV) Prabhasa Khanda vom Padma Purana erklrt:

namnam mukhyataram naam,
krishnakhyam me parantapa;
prayascittam aseshenam papanam mocakam param.

krishna-caitanyeti naam, mukhyan mukhyatamam prabhoh;
helaya sakrid uccarya, sarva-nama-phalam labhet.

krishna-Chaitanya-namna ye, kirtayanti sakrin narah;

gaura ye visala naam sei naam gau;
anya saba naam-mahatmya sei name pau.

gaura bina guru nahi ei bhava samsare; sakala gauranga bhakti shikhau sabare.

Murari Gupta's realization

Dear devotees,

Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! My humble pranams and obeisances!

Chaitanya Bhagavata is the real treasure trove of devotion and contains the key to awakening Gaura bhakti in the hearts of all living entities. It is such pleasure to read and listen to these pastimes again and again. I would like to share with you one insight I got on Madhya Khanda Chapter 20.

When Murari Gupta approached Lord Chaitanya and Lord Nityananda, he offered obeisances to Lord Gauranga first. Lord Gauranga then corrected him in a dream saying that Lord Nityananda is older. But why did it appear like a 'violation' of etiquette? Murari Gupta is one of the greatest authorities of nyaya shastra in his own right and Lord Chaitanya regularly argued logic with him in his scholarly pastimes. He knows very well all the codes of etiquette.

One layer of understanding is that Murari Gupta knew Lord Gauranga was the original source of all sources and Lord Nityananda is his expansion, so he offered obeisances to Lord Gauranga first. But this understanding was more of a logical sequence to me rather than a realization.

But by the Lord's mercy another insight came which was so wonderful. Murari Gupta knows very well that Lord Nitaai is older to Lord Gaura by 12 years, why did he offer obeisances to Lord Gauranga first? The answer is that Murari Gupta is actually none other than Hanuman, the dearest servant of Lord Rama. He is totally devoted to Lord Ramachandra and according to his devotion Lord Gaurachandra reveals himself as Lord Rama to Murari.

When Murari came to see the two Lords, he saw them as Lord Rama (Gauranga) and Lakshmana (Nityananda). Lakshmana is the younger brother in Rama lila so Murari offered obeisances to Lord Rama first, then he offered obeisances to Lakshmana. When asked about it, he said that he only followed the internal mood of Hanuman in his heart.

Lord Gaurachandra was very pleased internally to see the devotion of Murari Gupta, but he also desired to reveal the speciality of this incarnation to him. In his dream Lord Gauranga appeared as Krishna and Lord Nitaai as Balarama to show Murari Gupta some truth about their forms of Krishna and Balarama. He wanted to show Murari Gupta that Krishna being the original source of all expansions, when he descends, all his incarnations including Lord Rama, Lord Vishnu, Lord Narasimha and all other expansions enter into him. Therefore in this incarnation, Lord Nityananda is Balarama with Lakshmana having entered into him and he is Krishna with Lord Rama's forms entered into him. At the time when Lord Gauranga appears, he takes precedence over all his expansions which bow before him and surrender all their opulences to him. Therefore, actually it is Lord Nityananda who is elder and Lord Gauranga who is younger being Balarama and Krishna respectively.

Lord Gaura also revealed something about the mood of Krishna lila to Murari who is from Rama lila, telling him that Lord Ramachandra has entered into him and therefore the mood of Gaura Nitaai has taken over that of Lord Ramachandra-Lakshmana. The mood of Lord Rama and Lakshmana has now been superseded by that Lord Krishna Balarama as they are the original source of Lord Rama and Lakshmana and it is this relationship that is predominant in the pastimes of Gaura lila. It's very inconceivable to logic, but in the spiritual pastimes, the mood is what matters over the tattva. Now the Lord's original mood manifests over that of his expansions and therefore that is the mood that has to be given predominance.

Realising the glories of Lord Nitaai, Murari Gupta got up and chanted "Nityananda! Nityananda!" over and over again as he saw that in this incarnation, Lord Nitaai is the older brother and so next time he offered obeisances to Lord Nityananda first then to Lord Gauranga. Now he said, "My Lord I only follow." Previously he followed his internal mood, now he followed the same mood that the Lord was openly manifesting as he revealed it to him showing that a devotee has no other desire accept to follow the Lord as He desires.

Yet another realization from this is that seeing the Lord externally in person is indeed superior to seeing him internally in meditation. Murari Gupta always keeps Rama and Lakshmana in his heart literally so. In Ayodhya (Ramayana Uttara Khanda) he tore his heart open only to reveal that. But now Lord Gaura and Nitaai went into his heart and then when Murari Gupta left for home, Lord Nitaai Gaura stayed in his heart, as they do eternally always. Really these pastimes are all eternal!

In Rama Lila Lakshmana always kept himself as a humble servant trying to hide behind Lord Rama. So in Gaura lila Lord Gauranga has kept it reverse so that the glories of Lord Nityananda can be revealed to all of existence and to all living entities.  It only goes to re-iterate the earlier realization I had that Lord Nityananda can be revealed only by Lord Gauranga's mercy. It is Lord Chaitanya who again and again reveals Lord Nityananda's glories everywhere. To understand the truth about Lord Nitaai, one has to get Lord Gauranga's mercy.

The verse which says that only Hanuman received such mercy from Lord Ramachandra was the verse that revealed all this to me.

How many truths of spiritual mellows are hidden in Chaitanya Bhagavata! It reveals the mood of every incarnation of Godhead and how all the devotees of all different mellows are united in one mellow in Gaura lila. This also shows the mercy of Lord Gauranga -- he reveals his topmost orignal form to devotees of all different moods and abodes and pastimes. Which is why they all experienced even more bliss than in their own unique lila. It is a fact that the bliss of all the Lord's expansions can be realized in the single form of Lord Gaurachandra himself. Everything is included in Him.

How merciful is the Lord to reveal to this most useless wretch a glimpse of the heart of Murari Gupta, who is the first servant of Lord Gauranga-Ramachandra. It was so beautiful to get a glimpse of all these truths in one moment. I am not able to properly express my amazement at how many oceans of realization lie with a 2 line sloka of the Chaitanya Bhagavata. Lord Nityananda dictated the Chaitanya Bhagavata and his words have unlimited potency. Hidden under the mask of extreme simplicity is an unlimited ocean.

I only share these realizations to you devotees because it is my desire to give you back atleast one drop of what you have given me with my incompetent ability. I only want to please you and give you a lot of bliss through this.

All this is only due to the mercy of Hadai Nityananda Dasa prabhu and Swamiji who have so mercifully brought me to spiritual life. I am unable to express my gratitude to them -- for all that they have helped. Jaya Murari Gupta! Jaya Gurudeva!

Srinath

My humble request

Respects to all

Sri Vrndavan das Thakura

We all love to read Sri Chaitanya Bhagavat for me it much sweeter then Sri Krsna Lila, and not so difficult to read as Sri Chaitanya caritamrita. I first read this book in 1998 as I was given photo copy of the complete book.

When I got my computer a few months later I started searching the internet other translations of the same book. Around the year 2000 I bought the one volume English translation.

Over the years I was still searching for a complete English translation with slokas, and a far as I know there is only one complete translation being made, and I had a few volumes.  I did not like them.

Srila AC Bhakti Vedanta Swami Prabhupada my diksh guru was empowered by Lord Nityananda Prabhu to spread Gauranga Krsna consciousness all over the world, and translate books with his purports.

Since his leaving his earthly pass time's others have tried to translate in the same vain. When I read I would like to read Sri Chaitanya Bhagavat as it is; verse by verse; this way I would get the feel of Sri Vrndavan das Thakura telling his story of Sri Nitai Gaurangas pass times.

As with the English Sri Chaitanya Bhagavat translation I hardly ever put it down until I finished it. Such nectar on every page.

The purport translated Sri Chaitanya Bhagavat version; it was very hard to follow the flow of the book even if I just reading the slokas and translation of the book it became too much for me turning three or more page untill he next sloka.

All these years and we are still waiting for a completed Sri Chaitanya Bhagavat with slokas.

My humble request please some one complete the sloka translation of Sri Chaitanya Bhagavat.

The bengali Sri Chaitanya Bhagavat is almost pocket size.

Burning MP3's onto CD's

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krsna!

I recently stumbled upon the audio section of the site, and I found those very beautiful mp3's with Ratnamukhi Prabhu singing the Mantraraja's and the Hare Krsna Maha-Mantra.

I was wondering if it was okay to burn these mp3's into a cd and distribute them to people?

Visvanatha Chakravarthi's advice for sadhakas

Dear Vaishnavas,

    Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!

Bhakti Begins with Faith

The pilgrim undertaking a journey on the path of devotion must have faith (sraddha), a faith synonymous with the firm conviction to act on the words and the instructions of devotional scriptures. Faith is of two kinds: svabhaviki (natural) and balotpadika (inspired by an external force). Faith gives birth to the desire to surrender to a bona fide spiritual master and to learn from him the proper rules and etiquette of the devotional science. Sincerely following the spiritual master's instructions bestows upon a disciple the good fortune of wanting to associate with an elevated saint experienced and absorbed in the same devotional mood as the disciple himself aspires for-min other words, a like-minded saintly instructor. At this point begins the stage of bhajana-kriya, the platform of serious devotional activities.

Bhajana-kriya

Bhajana kriya is divided into two parts anishthita (unsteady) and nishthita (steady). When devotional activities are performed on the anishthita platform, there is no fear of deviation or lethargy. Anishthita (unsteady devotional service) is further divided into six gradations:
utsahamayi (sudden enthusiasm)
ghana-tarald (sometimes enthusiastic, sometimes lethargic)
vyudha- vikalpa (a stage when doubts assail one's resolve)
visaya-sangara (a stage of internal tug-of-war with material sense enjoyment)
niyamaksama (although one practises regularly, full justice is still not done to the process)
taranga-rangini (attachment to wealth, adoration, distinction, and so on).

Let us first discuss the beginning stage of bhajana-kriyathe stage of utsahamayi. When a young student begins higher education he is very proud, thinking himself to be a praiseworthy scholar. Such thoughts encourage the student to apply himself and to perform well. Similarly, when a novice commences spiritual life he takes to it so enthusiastically, thinking himself to be somebody special.
The example of the same young scholar explains the stage of ghanataral. At times the student concentrates deeply on his studies, but sometimes, because of his inability to understand something, he becomes apathetic. In devotional activities the neophyte goes through similar spells of opposing attitudes sometimes enthusiasm, other times lethargy.

Vyudha-vikalpa is an interesting stage on the path of spiritual life. sometimes the devotee thinks I shall convince my wife and family to become Vaishnavas and serve the Supreme Lord. I shall convert my house into a temple and remain there happily practicing devotional service. At other times he thinks, I shall leave my family, home, and the rest of my worries behind me and go to Vrindavana. I shall reside there, for it is the holiest of places, and I shall cultivate devotional surrender through the nine practices of devotion. Or he will say, 'Ultimately, I have to give up my home and all my other attachments, then should I not first plunge into the pool of sensual pleasures until I am satisfied?

Or he may think, The scriptures speak of family and wife being like a dark and dismal well. Should I not leave home this very moment? Sometimes the scriptures encourage me to perceive that this material life, family connections, wife, children are abominable and to renounce them. Yet how can I do that? My parents are old and infirm, who will take care of them? Besides, if I should leave home prematurely, with my material desires to enjoy still unfulfilled, my mind will continue to dwell on sense pleasures until my final days. This would be a disaster! Therefore, I can understand from my own thoughts that I am too weak to follow the Lord's instructions and renounce family life. For now I shall live simply. When the proper time comes I shall hasten to Vrindavana and spend my days and nights in deep meditation on the pastimes of the Supreme Lord.

The scriptures (SB. 11.20.31) say that neither knowledge nor renunciation is helpful in performing devotional service; since renunciation cannot give birth to bhakti, practicing renunciation separately is unnecessary. After one is situated in devotional service, however, renunciation is an asset because then renunciation proves not only the effectiveness of bhakti but also its superiority. it is both wrong and foolish to cultivate knowledge and renunciation separately once a person enters the path of devotional service.

A famous aphorism in logic is, When the renunciate goes begging from door-to-door, he finds all the family larders full with grains because he is given charity. Basing his argument on this logic the aspiring devotee thinks, I must take up renunciation. Next moment he comes across another scriptural maxim (SB.10.14.36) stating that unless one develops loving devotion to the Lord his home is a prison. So he says to himself, Must I remain in household life and try to develop devotional surrender to the Lord? Maybe I should practice hearing about Krishna or chanting Krishna's name and fame. Should I emulate Ambarisa Maharaja and simultaneously perform all the nine devotional activities? When bhajana-kriya goes through this state of doubt and vacillating resolve it is known as vyudha-vikalpa.

Visaya-sangara is the stage when conflicting doubts and arguments are resolved in the devotee's heart and he is convinced about the path of renunciation. Scripture states that just as an object lost in the west cannot be found in the east, similarly, a person engrossed in materialistic activities will never become attached to Krishna. The devotee feels that his desires for sensual enjoyment are forcing him towards fulfilling them, and so his attraction for chanting and devotional service becomes weak. Therefore he thinks he should immediately discard those desires and wholeheartedly chant the holy name, although even in the process he may sometimes fall victim to sense gratification. The devotee still remains convinced of the scriptural truth that perfection can be achieved through devotional service. And although he may fall prey to sense enjoyment, he rebukes himself and feels remorseful, always continuing his devotional practices. Thus the devotee wages a war against his desire for sense gratification: sometimes the victor, sometimes the defeated. When he does fall victim, the devotee at this stage of unsteady devotional service still feels regret and revulsion at his weakness.

The next stage of unsteady devotional service is niyamaksama, where the devotee vows to increase his devotional activities. He resolves to chant sixty-four rounds daily, offer one hundred prostrated obeisances to the Deities and the Vaishnavas; serve the senior devotees; avoid talking about mundane topics; shun the company of materialistic minded people, and so on. Daily he makes these vows, but at the last moment he is unable to honor them. The difference between visayasangara and niyamaksama is that in the former the devotee is helpless to give up material sense pleasures, and in the latter he is unable to increase and improve his devotional activities.

Now let us discuss taranga-rangini the last stage of anishthita devotional service. In describing the nature of bhakti it is said that everyone is attracted towards the reservoir of bhakti, the devotee. The devotee himself becomes a treasure-house of good qualities and mercy. These characteristics attract people who, in turn, crown the devotee with wealth, adoration, distinction and position. Although these accolades come to him as by-products of bhakti they nevertheless may stunt the spontaneous growth of the creeper of devotion if he uses them for his self-aggrandizement. Taranga means waves and rangini means play. Therefore, in the vast unlimited ocean of bhakti these by-products are waves that create tempests in devotional life. The devotee aspiring for pure devotion sees these waves to be harmless,-only gleefully playing and cresting.

Daaso'smi,
Srinath

Nityananda Gauranga Mantrarajas to Brazil

Sri Sri Guru Gaurangau Jayatah !!!
Dear Swami Gaurangapada, please accept my dandavats pranams.

Initially I ask that His Holiness and the devotees to forgives me for my poor domain of the English language and also for my lack of time in answering possible answers quickly due to not having connection with the internet in my house nor close of me. Forgive-me also for to take your precious time with this extense email, what is a first attempt of establishing a connection with His Holiness.

Few days before, I send a short message to your orkuts profile.
My name is Kirttan Lilamoye das, I live in Brazil in So Paulo State.

After to read and to observe sincerely the content of your pages in the web, I believe that found His Holiness due to the Divine direction and blessings of Sri Sri Nitay Gauranga. Thank you very much for your wonderful work to the vaisnava world!!!

I found your connection for the net, exactly in one moment where had matured the idea and the decision of beginning a non sectarian vaisnava mission, that ransom the supremacy and the superexcelence of Nama Rasa and service to Sri Nityananda-Gauranga.

Since my early and initial practices in Krishna temples, decades behind, I feel a great attraction for Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur and for Sri Nityananda Prabhu, and just as I found in our granthas, always considered to be appropriate, mainly to western aspirant devotees first of all, to obtain the Lord Nityanandas mercy before to proceed in to acquire something real and not simple "abhsic" in our spiritual lives.

And just now, in front of the current situation of the sankirtan movement in this country (as it is in others latin america countries): Free dissemination of vaisnava aparadha sadhu ninda, fighting sectarian spirit, lack of sadacara and vulgarization of the transgression of basic principles , weak sadhana, drastic reduction of jive-doya preaching work, sahajiya dissemination, etc, The Sri Nityanandas intervention becomes essential and urgent.

So, I am like this right that to have found His Holinees it was due to the blessing of Sri Bhaktivinode, Mahaprabhu and Nityananda, because your person and thought come to the encounter of Gaudiya Vaisnavism that we have been seeking, that believed and we needed.

It is natural the subject to appear, and it is like this important that I clear that is not possible to begin this humble service in connection with the math (as well as of the other ones) to which I am linked up to now, because the principal mentors ( in this country) of this above mentioned sectarian spirit, that in spite of we consider them in high esteems, they are the priests and main representatives of that missions and don't accept to give diksa or siksa to anyone, if this person don't accept that the specific Guru of their missions and so, their missions like "The True Supreme And Single one Guru".

The unhappy fact is that the people that receive diksa through these representatives end for they have not the minimum of connection with the represented Guru or else that end up being exclusively driven and (Badly) guided by these representatives instead of they be guided directly by your Gurus.

Therefore we have been seeking for an acarya that has the non-sectarian spirit. This dogma that have been disseminated for here and that have been provoking a lot of disharmony between the vaisnavas and applicants as well as the detriment of the Sri Gauranga mission.

The inspiration interns that more I cannot reject, it indicates me that should address the people where and for who I have the certainty that will be appropriately guided and sheltered far away from the smallest possibility of the mad elephant of vaisnava aparadha.

The Samaja that we are beginning lowly and without resources will call "Gauranga Samaja or Visva Vaisnava Raja Sabha Seva Sanga", and it bases on the text with the same name uttered by Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur and with base in the committees of work of the visva vaisnava raja sabha when it was presided by Srila Bhaktissidhanta Sarasvati Thakur.

So, our concern was like this exactly in the subject of giving a non-sectarian connection to those that are arriving and the those that are in a moment of confusion in your own missions and for this needed shelter.

I also plan to commit to the auxiliary these applicants in the line that you are emphasizing of singing always of the mantrarajas Nityananda Gauranga, before the maha mantra and of maintaining them connected with your teachings and inspiration.

What I want to leave with clearness is that we don't have any intention of usurping your name to legitimate our samaja, as based on the assertive ones that His Holiness left clear in your instructions to your disciples and devotees just as we see in NITAAI.com home page:

" ...He will give his spiritual support to such institutions, orgs etc. from outside if they are for the purpose of spreading the pure Holy Names and Pastimes of Nityananda, Gauranga and Hare Krishna and he will personally come and preach and reside in such preaching centers for sometime. But if he finds out that complicated politics, beaureaucracy and aparadha have entered into such institutions and centers started by his own disciples and devotees, then he may not be able to visit or personally guide such centers or institutions."

Our seva is still in gestation and we thanked if  H.H can send your illuminated suggestions for our intention. I ask for His Holiness, that is a Nitaai Parsada, that prays to Sri Nityananda so that our intention is blessed and victorious, because we will knows like this that we can continue without any type of fear.

We thanked for your Divine Inspiration and we will be awaiting your response to this email.
Wanting to stay always a servant of the Vaisnavas of Sri Nityananda Gauranga and of Sri Sri Radha Krsna.

Kirttan Lilamoye das / visva vaisnava dasanudasa

Re: Shri Chaitanya Bhagavata Verses about Nitaai Gaura Naama

Dear Swamiji and Vaishnavas,

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! My humble pranams to you all!

On reading and hearing Chaitanya Bhagavata for the first time, I immediately felt that lots of truths of Nityananda Gauranga and their holy names must be here as it is the original Bhagavata of Gaura lila itself.  Feeling inspired by the Lord and his devotees, I began this work and what I have seen is miracle after miracle.

In coming up with this list, I have gone through each and every verse in the Chaitanya Bhagavata to compile this list and submit it for your service and for the service of Vaishnavas worldwide. I am unable to fully express my feelings at the end of such an undertaking. Gold mine after gold mine kept coming and the Chaitanya Bhagavata has broken all record and surpassed every other literature in direct references to Nitaai Gaura naama. It was a very ecstatic research and even eating and sleeping became secondary while doing it. I only now realise a little bit of the glories of Chaitanya Bhagavata and the glories of Vaishnava Vani seva. Nothing can compare to Chaitanya Bhagavata.

Even if all books of knowledge in the world are destroyed by time, if only the Chaitanya Bhagavata remains, it will still be more than enough for the job. I do not minimize the glories of any other scripture by specially glorifying Vrindavana Dasa Thakur's book. Therefore I humbly request you not to take my juvenile words offensively.

Directly or Indirectly, Nityananda Gauranga are there in every verse of the Chaitanya Bhagavata. Therefore I have just tried to find out the ones which express it most prominently. Where I could not find direct references, I included indirect ones as far as possible where the meaning is implied.

I sincerely submit my prayer to Guru, the Vaishnavas and the Lord that these verses be revealed to all those who want to know about the true glories of the mantrarajas. I pray that even those who are antagonistic to the continuously chanting of Nitaai Gaura naam along with Hare Krishna maha-mantra also receive the mercy of Sri Chaitanya Bhagavata and realise the glories of Gaura Nitaai. This service is especially meant for these people.

By no means is this research perfect or complete. I am a fool full of errors and in my hurry I would have overlooked many things. Some verses I put up may be far too indirect. I may have put up such long lists that it may have been cubersome and time consuming to go through them. The verses are also not in order as they were found at different times and places.

What still remains is putting up the original verses for each of these translations, in the same order. I humbly request some devotee(s) to help me out in this as right now I am bound up with huge amounts of college work and exams and hard pressed to devote any time or energy for a massive compilation like this and I won't be able to come back for atleast 3 weeks or more. If we have the original verses, then we can make our own book of Nitaai Gaura naam in all the Gaudiya Vaishnava scriptures. Chaitanya Bhagavata's single contribution alone has been greater than everything else put together.

Yet despite all this my humble prayer is that I never get egoistic but always remain humble and always remain honest. These two qualities are most important for devotion and they can be obtained only by serving you devotees. So I pray that you will overlook all my limitations and always engage me in some service or the other. I pray that I remain devoted to the parampara and to the chanting of Nityananda! Gauranga! and Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Raama Hare Raama Raama Raama Hare Hare and to Sri Gurudeva and all Vaishnavas.

Please feel free to express your opinions and replies for improving this or if you have found any more verses outside this list.

With this I entrust this compilation to you. Please accept this humble offering.

Your humble servant always,
Srinath

Re: Shri Chaitanya Bhagavata Verses about Nitaai Gaura Naama

Dear devotees,

    Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!

Madhya Chapter 4

(Indirect)
Text 67 He voluntarily serves the Lord in many ways. If He makes one qualified, a person becomes able to serve the Lord.
Text 68 Even Lord Siva, who is very powerful, a great yogi, a great Vaishnava, and the first of the demigods, does not know the end of Lord Nityananda's glories.
Text 69 Persons who, not understanding His very profound pastimes, criticize Lord Nityananda, find that their devotional service to Lord Vishnu becomes stopped.

Madhya Chapter 5

(Indirect)
Text 1 Glory to Lord Chaitanya, who is Lord Krishna Himself, He is the lamp of Navadvipa and the lion who attacks the offenders. On a knotted string He chants a fixed number of His own holy names.

Text 111-113
Even though He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself, even though He is supremely independent, even though He is the creator, maintainer, and destroyer of the material universes, even though He is all-pervading within the material universes, even though He continues to exist after all the material universes disappear, and even though the Vedas affirm that he is limitless and eternal, Lord Ananta Sesha is always delighted to serve Lord Krishna with great love.

Text 119 Please know without doubt that Lord Nityananda is Lord Ananta Sesha Himself.
Text 120 Anyone who sees that Lord Nityananda and Lord Balarama are different persons is bewildered in his heart.

Text 130 Lord Nitaai thinks : "Anyone who offers prayers to Lord Chaitanya and to Me, and who glorifies Me as a servant of Lord Chaitanya, will certainly attain Me."
Text 148 The scriptures affirm that a devotee who has no love and devotion for Lord Balarama is the lowest of devotees.

Madhya Chapter 6

Text 151 In one form He describes His Lord. In another form He meditates on Him. In another form He becomes His bed and parasol. In another form He sings songs glorifying Him.
Text 165 "In home after home I will preach the sankirtana movement. The whole world will sing My glories and dance.

Madhya Chapter 8

Text 190-191 How wonderful it is that the Supreme Lord, the dancing of whose servants destroys all obstacles and purifies all the worlds, now personally dances and sings His own holy name. What result will come from the Lord dancing and singing His own holy name? Can the Puranas describe that result?
Text 193 The Supreme Personality of Godhead, the bliss of whose holy name makes Lord Siva forget his clothing,  whose glories make Lord Siva dance, now personally dances.
Text 194-195
The Supreme Personality of Godhead, whose holy name made Valmiki Muni wealthy with renunciation, whose holy name made Ajamila attain liberation, and whose holy name, when heard, cuts the bonds of birth and death, has personally descended in this world. Now He dances in the Kali-yuga..
Text 196-197
The Supreme Personality of Godhead, whose holy name Sukadeva and Narada sing as they wander in this world, whose glories Ananta Sesha sings with a thousand mouths, and whose holy name is the great atonement for all sins, now personally dances. Anyone who sees Him dance became very fortunate.

Text 285 By Lord Chaitanya's order the kirtana stopped. Roaring, the Lord revealed the truth about Himself.
Text 286 He said, "In Kali-yuga I am Krishna. I am Narayana. I am He, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the son of Devaki.
Text 287 "I am the master of countless millions of universes. I am the person whose names you sing. You are all My servants.
Text 288 "Taking all of you with Me, I have descended to this world. The offerings that You make to the Deity form of the Supreme Lord are actually offered to Me.
Text 289 "Now you should give all those offerings to Me." Then Shrivasa said, "Lord, everything is Yours."

Madhya Chapter 13

Text 175 Bewildered with wine, they said, "What's Your name?" Nityananda replied, "My name is Avadhuta.
Text 204 "Please be merciful to me. I will chant Your name. Only You, and no one else, can deliver me."
Text 251 "Glory, glory to the Lord, the great teacher who enjoys pastimes of chanting His own holy names! Glory to Lord Nityananda, who fulfills Lord Chaitanya's order!

(Indirect)
Text 264 "Ajamila chanted Your holy name. Therefore it is not surprising that he attained liberation.
Text 354 "Who are Your father, mother, and guru? No one knows. You only eat. And everyone calls You `Avadhuta'."

Madhya Chapter 14
Text 55 Filled with love for Lord Krishna, the great-devotee demigods returned to their cities. Only Lord Chaitanya's glories, and nothing else, was on their tongues.

Madhya Chapter 15
Text 8 When they remembered their previous violent activities, they wept and fell unconscious to the ground.
Text 9 They called out, "Father Chaitanya, O savior of the fallen!" Remembering Lord Chaitanya, they wept again and again.
Text 68 "Anyone who worships Lord Chaitanya is My very life. Yuga after yuga, I rescue him.

Madhya Chapter 19
(Indirect)
Text 116-117 A person who is not delighted by Lord Chaitanya's glories, glories always described by the mouths of Brahma, Siva, and Goddess Lakshmi, the mother of all, has uselessly accepted sannyasa. He uselessly studies Vedanta.
Text 272 "Dvija", "vipra", and "brahmana" are three names for the same thing. In the same way Nityananda and Balarama are different names of the same person.

Madhya Chapter 22
Text 135 By Lord Nityananda's mercy I know Lord Chaitanya. By Lord Nityananda's mercy I know the Vaishnavas.
Text 136 By Lord Nityananda's mercy offenses are destroyed. By Lord Nityananda's mercy one attains devotion to Lord Vishnu.
Text 139 A person who has only a little good fortune will not become Lord Nityananda's servant, for Lord Nityananda's servant is able to see Lord Chaitanya.
Text 140 Anyone who hears this story of Lord Visvarupa becomes a servant of the limitless Supreme Personality of Godhead. He feels that Lord Nityananda is his very life.
Text 141 Lord Nityananda and Lord Visvarupa do not have different bodies. This Mother Saci knew. Some other great souls also knew.
Text 142 Glory to Lord Nityananda, who takes shelter of Lord Chaitanya! Glory, glory to Lord Nityananda, who is thousand-faced Ananta Sesha!
Text 143 O Lord Nityananda, O king of Gauda-desa, glory to You! Who can attain Lord Chaitanya without first attaining Your mercy?
Text 144 Anyone who loses Lord Nityananda will not be happy in this life.

Madhya Chapter 23
(Indirect)
Text 43 "If an outcaste takes shelter of Me, then he is Mine, and I am his. Know that without doubt.
Text 44 "If a sannyasi does not take shelter of Me, then he is not Mine. I speak the truth.
Text 201 Overcome with bliss, Lord Chaitanya danced in a kirtana of His own holy names. All auspiciousness came there.
Text 329 "The power of the Supreme Lord's holy name made Varanasi into the king of holy places. The liberated residents of Svetadvipa always chant the Lord's holy name.
Text 330 "It is the power of the Supreme Lord's holy name that made the demigod Siva worshiped by all. Now the whole world has heard chanted the Lord's name.

Text 331 "Renounce all sins and chant the Lord's holy name. Worship Lord Chaitanya. Then I will not kill you."

Madhya Chapter 24
(Indirect)
Text 69 Anyone who will not say, "Lord Chaitanya is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the master of all", is a sinner, and is never fit to be seen by Vaishnavas.

Madhya Chapter 26
Text 73 How handsome was Lord Chaitanya in the mood of Balarama! Gazing and gazing at Him, the devotees no longer felt any of the troubles of this world.
Text 74 Everyone gazed at His indescribable moonlike face. Very loudly He called, "Nityananda! Nityananda!" (Lord Gaura Himself calls Nityananda)

Madhya Chapter 28
Text 192 Anyone who with his own mouth says, "I am a servant of Nityananda" will some day see Lord Chaitanya. That is inevitable.
Text 193 Nityananda is most dear to Lord Chaitanya. I will never leave the company of the Lord's servants.
Text 194 I worship Lord Chaitanya. Lord Nityananda gives to the whole world the gift of ecstatic love for Lord Krishna.
Text 195 Beyond this world of birth and death lies the ocean of pure devotional service. Anyone who wishes to dive in that ocean should worship Lord Chaitanya and Lord Nityananda.

Antya Chapter 2
Text 179 Everyone said, "He is our master. Perhaps you have heard His name: Shri Krishna Chaitanya.
Text 180 "We are all His servants." When these words were spoken, tears flowed from the devotees' eyes.
Text 305 The Supreme Personality of Godhead, whose mantra makes His Deity forms come alive, now bore the name Shri Krishna Chaitanya.

Antya Chapter 3
(Indirect)
Text 123
He said:

kalan nashtam bhakti-yogam nijam yah
    pradushkartum krishna-chaitanya-nama
avirbhutas tasya padaravinde
    gadham gadham liyatam citta-bhringah

"Let my consciousness, which like a honeybee, take shelter of the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who has just now appeared as Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to teach the ancient system of devotional service to Himself. This system had almost been lost due to the influence of time."*

Text 124-125
This verse means: May my heart stay at the lotus feet of the Lord who bears the name Shri Krishna Chaitanya and who, to again reveal the truth of devotional service to Him, a truth that by the power time had become hidden after some days, descended to this world.
Text 126
Then Sarvabhauma said:

vairagya-vidya-nija-bhakti-yoga-
    sikshartham ekah purushah puranah
shri-krishna-chaitanya-sarira-dhari
    kripambudhir yas tam aham prapadye

"Let me take shelter of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Shri Krishna, who has descended in the form of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to teach us real knowledge, His devotional service, and detachment from whatever does not foster Krishna consciousness. He has descended because He is an ocean of transcendental mercy. Let me surrender at His lotus feet."*

Text 127 This verse means: To teach His devotional service and detachment from whatever does not foster Krishna consciousness, the Supreme Personality of Godhead has mercifully descended to this earth.

Text 154 Anyone who hears Lord Chaitanya's glories crosses beyond the world of birth and death and goes to Lord Chaitanya's spiritual abode.

Antya Chapter 4

(Indirect)
Text 68 Even that Muslim king honored Lord Chaitanya. Therefore only a blind person will not honor Lord Chaitanya.
Text 69 Though they may shave their heads and wear sannyasi's garments, these blind people burn in their hearts when they hear Lord Chaitanya's glories.
Texts 70-72
Anyone who is not happy to hear Lord Chaitanya's glories, glories that fill the numberless universes, glories that crush ignorance into powder, glories that make Lakshmi, Siva, Brahma, and Ananta Sesha wild with happiness, glories that the four Vedas always sing, finds that all his virtues become faults.
Text 130 Staying for some days in that village, Lord Chaitanya fearlessly performed the sankirtana of chanting His own holy names.

Antya Chapter 5

Text 192 King Prataparudra prayed, "Sate me! Save me, O master of all living entities, O ocean of mercy! Please place Your glance of mercy on me, a sinner.
Text 193 "Save me! Save me, O independent Lord who enjoy whatever pastimes You wish, O ocean of mercy! Save me! Save me, O Shri Krishna Chaitanya, O friend of the poor!
Text 194 "Save me! Save me, O Lord before whom all the demigods bow, O beloved of Goddess Lakshmi! Save me! Save me, O only object of the devotees' love!
Text 195 "Save me! Save me, O Lord whose form is pure and spiritual! Save me! Save me, O Lord Krishna eager to enjoy pastimes of sankirtana!
Text 196 "Save me! Save me, O Lord whose nature, names, and virtues are beyond the understanding of mere human beings! Save me! Save me, O abode of gentleness and virtue!
Text 197 "Save me! Save me, O Lord before whose graceful feet Brahma and Siva bow! Save me! Save me, O ornament of sannyasa-dharma!
Text 198 "Save me! Save me, O Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu! O Lord, please give Your mercy to me! Please never leave me!"

Text 220 It is because of Lord Nityananda's mercy that even today the whole world sings of the Supreme Lord's descent as Shri Chaitanya to this world.

Text 329 Accompanied by the devotees, Lord Nityananda sang kirtanas glorifying Lord Shri Krishna Chaitanya
Text 592 Whoever worships Lord Nityananda's feet and remembers them breaks all obstacles into pieces.
Text 623 "Who has the power to throw me into all these calamities? Lord Nityananda is my only shelter, I have no other shelter."
Text 626 The brahmana prayed, "Save me! Save me! O Nityananda, O cowherd boy Krishna, O master, O protector of all living entities, please save me!
Text 627 "A person who trips and falls to the ground takes shelter of the earth.
Text 628 "In the same way a person who commits offenses against You must meditate on You. On then can he be delivered from his sufferings.
Text 629 "You forgive all offenses. You are merciful to the fallen.
Text 630 "I have killed many brahmana and many cows. O Lord, no one is a greater offender than I am.
Text 631 "Still, even the greatest sinners may find shelter in You and break into pieces the bonds that tie them to this world of birth and death.
Text 632 "From the moment of birth You protect the lives of the living entities, O Lord, and at the end of their lives You protect them also.
Text 633 "O Lord, please protect me today from these dangers. If I remain alive, I will have learned my lesson.
Text 634 "Birth after birth I am Your servant, O Lord. Whether I live or die, I only wish to be Your servant."
Text 647 "Save me, Father Nityananda, purifier of the fallen!", the brahmana roared, his arms raised.
Text 692 He called out, "Lord Nityananda! Master! Purifier of the sinners! Please give the shelter of Your feet to me, a sinner!

Text 700 In no other incarnation did the Supreme Lord act in this way. Lord Nityananda always chanted, "Chaitanya!"
Text 704 O my brothers, please worship, please worship Lord Nityananda. By His mercy you will attain Lord Chaitanya

Antya Chapter 7

Text 12 Accompanied by His associates, overcome with bliss, and always singing of Lord Chaitanya's names and virtues, Lord Nityananda departed.
Text 16 Streams of tears always flowed form His eyes. "Shri Krishna Chaitanya!", He roared.
Text 124 Gadadhara had no desire to see the face of anyone who criticized Lord Nityananda.
Text 125 Gadadhara Pandita would not look at the face of anyone who did not love Lord Nityananda.
Text 126 After some time becoming peaceful again, the two Lords sat down together and talked about the auspicious glories of Lord Chaitanya.

Antya Chapter 9
Text 308-309
Lord Chaitanya has all power and all devotion. His power begins and ends everything. He knows everything. A person who knows this sincerely worships Lord Chaitanya.

And Finally, for the grand finale

Text 182
The two moons Shri Krishna Chaitanya and Shri Nityananda are my life and soul. I, Vrindavana dasa, sing the glories of Their feet.

Thus ends Shri Chaitanya Bhagavata

Re: Lord Nityananda and Lord Chaitanya's Naam in Devanagiri

Nityaananda!! Gauraanga!! Hare Krishna!! Jaya Shri Guru Parampara! Welcome to the NITAAI.com Kyros. I am so happy that you are interested in NITAAI Lekhana Yoga. I, myself, perform this writing of the Devanagari syllables of Nityaananda Gauraanga Naama daily and it is one of the most inspiring part of my sadhana. It is ever-fresh and rewards me with so many intimate realizations about the pastimes of Lords Nityannda Gauranga and Shri Shri Radha Krishna. I have found it is so powerful that it enables me to remain deeply in the Lord's consciousness even while talking to others, reading, hearing kirtans etc. The llink to the Sanskrit syllables is here.

Mahaprabhu performing seshashayi pastime with Advaita Acarya

Dear Swamiji and all devotees,

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! My humble pranams!

In their Puri Pastimes, when Mahaprabhu assumed the form of Vishnu, Srila Advaita Acarya manifested his potency to carry him and they enacted the pastime of Seshashayi Vishnu.

But isn't this job done by Lord Nityananda usually? Isn't it very surprising that Lord Advaita, who is none other than Maha Vishnu himself lying down on Ananta Sesha is now doing the job of Ananta Sesha carrying Lord Gauranga? Lord Chaitanya is always carried by Lord Nityananda, but here Advaita Acharya has taken that role. What is the meaning of this?

I am very amazed by this surprising pastime. I have no qualifications, and I may be most unworthy to know more about it, but nevertheless I felt like asking this for the pleasure of all devotees. What is this mysterious pastime?

Murkho'smi,
Srinath

Lord Nityananda and Lord Chaitanya's Naam in Devanagiri

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krsna!
All Glories to Srila Prabhupada and Paramapara

Is there a picture of Lord Nityananda and Lord Gauranga's name in devangiri anywhere? I would like to start doing the writing yoga but I don't know how exactly the Lord's name goes.

I can read and write the devangiri script ( I cannot speak Hindi though), so if someone can tell me which characters I can use to write the names, that would work. I've only seen the names in Latin script, but it's not reliable to translate the Lord's name from Latin (English) to Sanskrit because of the way the language is designed. Those who know the difference can understand what I'm saying.

Gauranga fragte: Srivasa, was bedeutet das?.

Dann geschah etwas wunderbares.

Re: Gargle your mouth 10 times with water after eating or drinking

respects to all All glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga

I just want to share something with you All. Way back in 1966 I went to my dentist as I had a mouth infection and the dentist gave me a prescription for hydrogen peroxide and he said put in a little water and gargle your mouth with it 2 or 3 time daily. It worked wonders.

Over the years I used hydrogen peroxide for many things like cuts, infection, sore throats, bleeding gums, and it works everytime.

It comes 20% or 10 % volumes. 20%  use now straight. If its too strong for you add water. You can buy this in India drug shops but the bottles are small I get it in 100ML bottles.

Illness pastimes?

Dear Guruji,

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! My humble and respectful pranams!

Sadhakas suffer illnesses because the Lord has purification for them. But why do even perfected sadhakas show such symptoms?

Also why do the Nitya Lila devotess manifest illness like blindness or chronic diseases and old age pastimes if their body is spiritual?

Re: Gargle your mouth 10 times with water after eating or drinking

Dear Swamiji,

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! My humble pranams!

I've had a history of tooth problems with 5 extractions, 6 fillings, a root canal (very long and painful procedure) along with a longer jaw which is responsible for mouth breathing and so these problems. When the dentist wanted corrective crano-facial  surgery, I had enough of it and refused A surgery would be a total disaster for a month.  Thanks to braces though the problem with teeth  have gone in and realigned and it seems to have stopped.

Mental japa or murmuring isn't very effective for me as loud japa or kirtan as it simply seems to strain my throat hoarse. It's effecitveness on me is almost hopeless because of my very unstable mind. The 2 worst illnesses I really find intolerable are throat and tooth problems as it stops me from chanting. I am totally dependent on loud chanting and I get very upset if something stops that.

But really it is all the mercy of you and the Lord. I am always praying that I never lose my voice at anytime as without it I am lost. Previously when I used to chant, there was so much throat strain and I used to get throat infections later. But the Lord has been merciful to give me solutions. Recently with music I am learning to use my voice correctly to avoid all strain. Increasing breath capacity, being able to take deep and quick breaths, singing from the diaphragm and being able to hold one praana kriya for 1 or two minutes without taking another breath. Chanting from the diaphragm is what allows me to chant better. Though I still have to put this to full use and perfect it.

Daaos'smi,
Srinath

Re: Nitai Gaura's and their devotee's record breaking mercy

Dear devotees,

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! My humble pranams!

There are lots of references to Gaura naam, but comparitively very few to Nitaai naam. Only the very choicest verses directly indicate him in all known scriptures. The majority are indirect references. Why is this?

The answer is that Nityananda is very, very confidential. His mercy is so great and so unique that it is not obtained easily even by liberated souls, although it is the ultimate solution for the material world.

Nitaai, his names, pastimes, forms, abodes, qualities and servants are all very confidential even to the scriptures. This is because the humility of Lord Nitaai is so much that he keeps Himself hidden behind Lord Gauranga in every possible way always wishing to be the servitor Godhead.

Vrindavana Dasa Thakura has himself said

Text 134 Even a merchant, or a lowly person, or a fool who chants Lord Nityananda's name becomes able to purify the entire world.
Text 169 In this incarnation of the Lord some people sing the names of Lord Chaitanya, but when they hear the name of Lord Nityananda, they jump up and run away.
Text 170 They are like persons who worship Lord Krishna but do not honor Lord Siva. These sinners go to Yamaraja's abode.
Text 171 In this incarnation Lord Nityananda is carefully hidden. Only if Lord Chaitanya Himself reveals Him can anyone see Lord Nityananda.
Text 172 Persons who, not understanding the truth, blaspheme Lord Chaitanya or Lord Nityananda find great obstacles blocking their progress in devotional service to Lord Vishnu

In these verses it is totally revealed the reason for the incredible confidentiality of Nitaai naam. In Adi Khanda Chapter 1, Vrindavana Dasa Thakur says, "Now days some impersonalists claim in which scripture are Lord Balarama's pastimes descirbed?",

Indirectly he indicates that those ignorant of Lord Nitaai's glory will challenge where his names and glories, form, qualities, abode and pastimes are described. When Haridasa who was Prahlada and Brahma and Shrivasa who was Narada went to look for Nitaai, they could not find him even despite their powers. They taught us a lesson that no one can find Nitaai by their own seeking processes, scholarship, Vedic knowledge, speculation, or any effort from ourselves.

But Lord Gauranga is always eager to reveal the glories of Lord Nitaai even against Lord Nityananda's will. Only He can reveal He who keeps himself so hidden. He goes into total ecstasy on hearing the name 'Nityananda'. It is Lord Nityananda who is the object of Lord Gaura's love.

Throughout Chaitanya Bhagavata and Chaitanya Chaitamrta it is Lord Gauranga who time and again and yet again, reveals Nityananda's true glories to everyone. Lord Gauranga just wants us to show a little humility and a little particle of real faith in Lord Nityananda and he immediately makes all arrangements to reveal all of Lord Nityananda.

The two Lordships are ready to dive headlong into the hearts of even the materially fallen souls, liberated or not, and arrange their spiritual progress just for chanting "Nityananda" a few times. Even the liberated souls hanker for this type of mercy and those who chant "Nitaai! I am yours" are saved. Whatever happens to them externally, on the absolute platform, their place in the Lord's party has been secured and they will be inspired to attain it somehow or the other. They may keep trying to deviate, but even the most unexpected or dull moments in their life can re-inspire them to come back, just because Lord Nityananda arranged it so.

Our movement which has openly declared the chanting of Nityaanada naam is possible only due to the mercy of Lord Gauranga. Without Lord Chaitanya's mercy, no one can even know of Lord Nityananda's glories. Those who chant Nityananda Gauranga are very fortunate to have received the special mercy of Lord Gauranga which he offered only to his own circle. Even one devotee who takes the name of Nityananda immediately gets all the record breaking mercy and can deliver the entire universe.

How can I even write the feelings of gratitude I sometimes feel for those who have revealed this treasure to me? Words are not sufficient. I consider myself to be a most worthless fool and I am sooooo grateful to you for giving this very rare mercy to souls like myself and I pray that I should sincerely remain a humble and sincere servant of your lotus feet always.

Srinath
