Re: Siddhis and the Power to Perform Mystical Deeds
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krsna!
A sincere practicioner of spiritual life (internal practice) may find siddhis awaken 'spontaneously'. Rather than just criticizing the awakening of siddhis, wouldn't it be wiser to talk about the experience of the specific siddhi itself (that one is experiencing).
I consider it this way: God is so kind he wishes to give his children manifold blessings, even siddhis. He also wishes to bring his children into' maturity'. Maturity involves responsibility... God grants free will for this very purpose.
As spirit/souls we take this journey of self-discovery in consciousness, God consciousness (Krsna consciousness). Atma. When the siddhis arise we enter a new plane of existence. Initially the realm of siddhis (siddha loka) can be captivating. It can also be very difficult for some. Some remain there...that is simply the admonition of the masters of devotion...Don't remain there! Love has much more to offer. Goloka is the land of simplicity and beauty...ofcourse we must pass through Gokula first (where the master of mystic potency resides).
Some souls may be experiencing the realm of siddhis by God's grace and kindness. To mature them into being responsible servants. Maturing them to 'deep love'. Postive and progressive immortality you might say...
As people we could talk for eternity about a subject matter we have never experienced. For example: Canada is full of trees, mountains and snow. The people are nice etc etc........But unless we have been there, this is only words. If we have been there, the wise person applies good intelligence, and can then make comparison with other parts of the world, nations, geography and peoples. A whole vision. A bigger picture of diversity.
Siddhis may hold purpose, but, if only to inflate one's ego and sensory gratification then little lasting fruit....missing the purpose of God's wisdom in creation. Whereas simplicity and devotion is unlimited in scope (from a totally different angle of vision - LOVE).
your servant.
