Because young devotees could not properly understand differences and some specific mood of his Godbrothers. On beginning level it is best to get informations only from one source - idealy diksa and siksa guru at same person. When disciple become more mature he or she may understand that differences are natural, without confusion.

It requires one to know one. So to associate with pure devotees we should also be very near otherwise we could not understand their activities properly, and thus we may commit various offencess. This was not question about qualities of Srilla Prabhupada's Godbrodhers, it was simply Prabhupada's strategy to protect his disciples from themselves (possibility of aparadhas and philosophical confusion).
