Breaking fast on Lord's Appearance Day's

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krsna!

I recently discovered some quotes and phrases by people close to Srila Prabhupada, and these quotes say that one should break a fast on the Purnima or Janmastami (or any other Appearance day of Lord Hari) with a light Ekadasi meal; like hot milk with bananas or something.

However, a lot of places break a fast with a full fledged feast on those days. It is also said that Prabhupada didn't force this kind of standard on his disciples either.

I'm confused at how to approach this problem.
