First Things First

Arranging festivals like Sri Gaura-Purnima is nice and blissful but your  sadhana often goes out of the window. Sometimes you don't take any breaks for the whole day but there might still be 10 or 12 rounds to be chanted at 5pm. I once tried to serve prasadam H.H. Kavicandra Swami in late afternoon or evening but since he had been travelling and could not finish his rounds on the plane, he refused prasadam and  said: "First things first"...and continued chanting.
I have noticed this is very effective - if you do the small vow that you are not going to honor any prasadam before you have finished your Japa, you are sure to get your rounds done before the evening. Somewhere in the late afternoon when your mind realizes that "Oh, we are not going to eat anything before we have chanted..." even the greatest numbers of rounds will surely get done.
