Being Grateful To The Holy Names
Being grateful is a way of recognizing how precious is to have this human form of life and also having met devotees. Sometimes we are so comfortable in our devotional service and positions that we forget that we are very lucky, just by having the chance of hearing this transcendental knowledge from an authorized source. It is stated in the Bhagavad Gita As It Is 10.8:
"I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts."
We depend on Krsna for everything. Even to chant the Holy Names, we depend on our voice, tongue, hands, health, air etc. Thanking our Lord for having all these in perfect condition is important, another thing is taking advantage of these abilities to perform devotional service. We never know how much time we still have for chanting, why don't we chant on our beads as if it were the last day, the last minute of our lives. We never expect to die but we should perform our service as if it were the last time given instead of putting off taking it seriously.Srila Prabhupada once said that no money can pay a single second of life if you are dying, thats why every moment of our lives are precious and must be used in the best way, connecting us to the Supreme and awakening our constitutional position in this life.
