Feel Your Beads

One way to define attention is that the mind should be focused on our internal world instead of the external. Sitting still and becoming aware of small things - how we sit and how we breath can be helpful when we try to bring our mind from external things to internal. Simply hearing maha-mantra is the goal but these other ways to cultivate attentiveness may be helpful towards that goal. Being aware of our Japa beads is especially important. We noticed this morning that as long as we could be focused on holding our beads, the mind was somewhat focused on hearing maha-mantra.
When one is chanting in an inattentive way, we sometimes drop the beads from our hands, forgot how many rounds we chanted, or count too fast or too slow.
